I’m a console player and this pisses me off. This is what the Vice City definitive edition should look like. THIS is what a $60 game looks like. I really hope some smart people can come up with a way to make this playable on ps5 and not give rockstar games a cent for it.

iirc there was a similar story with STALKER THQ was slowly choking the game to death by underfunding the development So CEO of GSG met up with a THQ representative and said, "I am going to upload the dev builds online" THQ rep felt a pang in his left lung "In fact, they are in process of uploading as we speak" THQ rep felt air stuck in his throat "Give me the money"and with this THQ was finished They agreed to continue funding STALKER on a condition that the game won't be spread thru unofficial means because Slav power was too much for them. People having fun for free to a publisher, it's like a sun to a vampire Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl released in 2007 and was a success. (dev builds got uploaded online anyway)

I was in Moscow last year, in March. Walking around the center of Moscow, I went into some restaurant or cafe, and there I met Edward with his wife and child. All you need is the torrent file, there's hardly any point of even hosting it anywhere as you can just ask your friends for it or find it in some forum or server since it's so small.

@Airbigbawls the torrent file is a handy way of distribution, but the problems start to arise when you realise that in western countries ISPs log your torrent activity and can fine you for torrenting pirated content (many such cases), and the only way to avoid it is to download under a VPN (which usually have limited bandwidth and monthly traffic, so unless you're in the minority of people who have figured it all beforehand it's just too much hassle for a GTA mod, which is why in the west people usually share a direct download via gdrive or something similar

It's not piracy. It uses the Rage Engine and Systems, but you can't play GTA IV. And ultimately this is extremely beneficial to us, the consumers, because we are getting a complete game, we don't have to learn to mod, no compatibility issues, everyone has the same game, it's perfect.

Piracy make no more sense if the game is either in 2 state: old (10 years+) or not available GTA 4 is not only old, it's port is absolute ass because it was not optimized at all, you will have to do billion of wizardry thing to be able to barely play it This also put the 2nd reason into hand - why tf do you need to pay for a game that you will have to mod in order to play it properly ? By law it's illegal but in logical sense (not nostalgic or somewhat of that) really is, why ? I see why T2 striked their yt channel, it's unofficial marketing material that overshadows their VC:DE. Hell, they even took down the Classics made by R* North to make us play DE. Biggest cojones on the mod team. But man it's still built up on top of the absolute catastrophe of GTA IV on PC. It crashes a lot, VRAM won't detect more than 4GB, and the (back then) groundbreaking RAGE/Euphoria engine is very sluggish for 2002 mission design. I've tried it out, and however much I love driving in GTA IV, it simply isn't the right thing for Vice CIty of 2002. Thanks to Rockstar we have the pleasure of playing GTA series, one masterpiece after another. Thanks to modders we can relive the good old days with modern hardware and new possibilities. Thanks to T2 we can't possibly enjoy GTA the way we want. LCPP died so that VCNE could live. You see how they treat creativity and dedication - don't pre-order anything from the greedy pricks.

Sometimes, you need to break the rules to make the rule-makers realize why their approach is fundamentally wrong. Sitting back and expecting those in power to act kindly and with understanding will only lead to worsening situations over time. Rockstar wasn’t always like this-they started with a different spirit. But now that they’ve grown into a giant, they want everything for themselves. Is it right to distribute mods for free, even to those who don’t own the game? No, it’s not ideal. But it had to be done. Why? Because when modders tried to work with Rockstar and ensure the mods required owning the game, Rockstar shut them down! The longer this goes on, the more I grow to despise Take-Two and Rockstar. After GTA 6 releases, you can bet they’ll eventually target GTA V modders too. Instead of embracing modding, they’re actively trying to kill it. What they don’t realize is that modding drives more people to buy the older games. It’s clear this hostility stems from the disaster that was the Definitive Edition of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas like you point out in the video. They saw modders doing what they themselves couldn’t-or wouldn’t-do. This is why, in my opinion, the modders are in the right. Rockstar and Take-Two should embrace the community, not stifle it.

GTA 4 is NOT included in this mod. All this means is that they basically made the mod into a standalone game, which is using the GTA 4 engine, but does not require the original game to work. Just for reference, the PC version of GTA 4 is 22 something gigabytes, while this project is a mere 8,5 gigs

Let me be honest here….. despite all of the legal/copyright, and trademark issues this mod may cause, no one should give af about how this mod may inconvenience rockstar games, or take 2. IMO If rockstar/take 2 doesn’t like that independent modders are polishing their games, or adding modifications that make the games that they’ve officially published look like dog water compared to the mods/other fan made creations, then perhaps they should have taken more time to analyze/work on these shitty “definitive editions” they’ve released, or maybe they even should have hired people who were just as passionate/innovative as these modders to work on the games, we probably wouldn’t even be witnessing this scenario today, and with how passive aggressive, nasty, secretive, and harsh rockstar games, and now take 2 has been to their fans, serves them right that a gang of modders is now pirating one of their official games out of spite of them destroying their KZbin channel, and hard work they’ve put into these mods…. Guys remember: Rockstar Games took the Definitive Edition away from PC users for one weekend after they sold it. They took it because Grove Street Games left some unwanted files in there like the Main.scm and stuff. They messed up and the customer had to suffer/ no Access to his BOUGHT and PAID FOR product.

Why is this even a question? Of course it's okay for the modders to release their modification as a stand-alone game! 😀 The guys behind Revolution Team spent years making this modification, followed by offering this modification for free. Free labour and free advertisement for Rockstar Games, with bonus revenue as a result, since people would have bought GTA 4 in order to be able to play this modification. Rockstar Games would have cashed in extra money without even lifting a finger, since all the hard work and advertisement was done by four Russians guys for free. But now, Take-Two Interactive clearly said: "We won't want your modification, we don't want you reviving interest into our older games, we don't want your free advertisement and we don't want additional revenue as a result of this advertisement!" By doing this, Take-Two Interactive gave permission to Revolution Team to release this modification as a stand-alone game. 🙂

I like how the moders were like F U, R* and T2, we were going to require users to use purchased copies of the game and be a legit mod, but F with is and find out, boom, here's a fully working stand alone version, no purchase required (ps / fyi I own what can only be described as to many copies of all these games, and generally don't support piracy of games but in this case I think I can make an exception in where my support lies). R* has really gone down hill. R* / T2 you turned a modding community into a piracy community, potential buyers into "screw them 'ers" and also taught a bunch of people that piracy just works. Sorry to tell but i have to agree with modders. For once, since the beginning of January, we had some big exceptional content happening with Liberty City mod into GTA V and now Vice City. Russians are built different and don't care ^^. I played their remake and i had blast playing it as it feels like you're playing a new GTA IV DLC due to game design. Backfire towards Rockstar and especially Take Two is pretty much well deserved.

Damanding and deleting any mod on any game, that does not include in itself any files and content of the original game is complete lunacy and Thomas Edison's gang level of operation. Firstly, what you said in the video is absolutely bullsh*t. They aren't giving away GTA 4, you can't unmod the game and just play GTA 4 like normal. Secondly they distributed Patch 1.0.7.0 which is literally impossible to buy in 2025, so they're not even using the version of the game that's for sale. Take two Interactive also can't do a flying flop about this mod either because it's being distributed via torrent which means you can't even call it piracy because it's multiple parts of one file being shared from different people. The U.S. Federal Bureau of Intelligence can't even find away to crackdown on torrents, what makes you think Take Two can 😂? Especially when these people are in a country that's not currently very friendly to outside governments like the US and West Europe right now.

The only reason other companies, like CD Projekt Red, support modders is because they were in a state of panic and faced heavy backlash due to Cyberpunk 2077. To mitigate the situation, they gave modders the opportunity to fix the game's issues through mods. Additionally, CD Projekt Red now collaborates with the same modders who helped improve the game. On the other hand, Take-Two does not allow this due to music copyrights and the protection of their proprietary assets, meaning they do not support modders at all.

Rockstar has been doing bare minimum for their fans/consumers for quite a long time now. They are trying to put a stop mainly to the mods/modders that really show how lacking Rockstar has been, but they do it under the guise of "legalities". Rockstar has repeatedly screwed their customers and taken a very authoritarian approach to what they allow in their games. They could be an amazing company but its easier to cover up their internal issues by covering up how good their games CAN really be. It's like they hate good potential.

I love how these mod creators cant follow simple rules to not have such things happen.... "Enhanced textures", great, HD mod pack, super... No issues here. "Enhanced physics", same, a nice improvement, no issues here. "Any other thing they may have added", alright, cool, no issues... I always saw Rockstar as one with the modders, I didn't think they would be the equivielent of Activision after banning MW2 MP Remaster mod. Imagine Giants would ban mods and farming simulator would not support any mods anymore, that would be an absolute disaster and would ruin the entire franchise and most likely bankrup the company, since modders make up 40% of farming simulator (Most fs mods were added in the base game in future releases)
