RIP Jake Phelps. It brought a smile to my face but also made me quite sad as the episode ended with a photo of him.

A Visual Sound was my favorite skate video at the time. I watched it repeatedly, looked up to Carl Shipman, Ethan Fowler (who was only, like, a year older than me at the time), Mike Daher, and (or course) Jason Lee. Interviews with these dudes got me reading Charles Bukowski, which is pretty heavy for high school reading. Hugely influential, the video ended up turning to a static mess because I left it in my car and it was sun damaged. Tin Can Folklore was really great too. Those videos REALLY stood out in that early-mid 90's skateboarding landscape for sure.

I'd say stereo is more pastras' company, him and Lee started it in '92 but Lee left to pursue his acting and Pastras continued stereo on his own untill the year 2000. They started it up again together in 2003.

Love the epicly later'd series. You get the skate history through each skater. I'd love to see an episode about Mike York or Chico Brenes or anyone who hasn't had one from those years of Girl/Chocolate. Loved Carroll's, Gino's and Guy's Epicly Later'd. Keep up the good work!

there's already an extensive documentary on Rodney Mullen, look it up on youtube. anything that this show would cover would only be redundant. besides, Epicly Later'd is a show that puts the spotlight on pros you may not know much about and up and coming skaters.

I thought about those days recently and found matt rodriguez's part from that..favorited the shit out of it. thanks Ethan, Patras, all those dudes.

Man Fowler really did a number on Benny Fairfax. 'You must feelnot of place man, not too many n****** in here' followed by ' You probably want to punch me right now. But you are not going to are ya?' The Dynamic of Benny being the new kid from overseas, getting taunted by Fowler 'the silverback' of the group for his skin colour was just more about bringing down the power on the freshmen of the Team. These Actions need to be called out more often. Fowler is as fowl as they come, and this I don't mean anything positive by it. If I ever meet Fowler, I bring this up and break him furry face.
@jeebersjumpincryst12 жыл бұрын
yea, i guess. I have not been skating for years now, and have not really followed it for years either. my skate years were late 80's early 90's. long time ago. I concentrate on surfing - way more enjoyable for me. i will look up ethan - i watched this and gathered he was revered, but skatingwise for what exactly i dont know.

I was thinking the same thing at first, but I do find this relaxing to watch. Recreational activities that actually require people to get out and do shit, instead of wasting time on the computer like most of us do; it's somewhat of a lost art it would seem. Also, a lot of us can't even get out and have fun anymore, because of the police-state cops we have in the U.S. these days. I live in a small town where cops would beat you to death with a night stick for having fun.

Read The Benny Faifax Interview, where he talks about his experience with Fowler. Called him rigirously the N-Word, just because he knows he'd get through with it. IDC who fucked up you are, this is a step over the line, even you may had a few too many.
