These are a form of shamanism , ancient spiritual practices that originated from ancient Khmer's who practice Theravada buddhism, not only does it exist in Thailand or Thai culture but also the surrounding countries such as Laos. Yes, this is part of our culture and beliefs especially in the northern regions, due to complex interweaving of local and translocal religious ideas, movements, rituals, practices, and persons over time it has become a common practice of buddhists in south east asia. Every religion has sacred symbols and rituals which then becomes part of culture, why are non thais or anyone who have no deep understanding of certain cultures commenting as if they do? theres so much you dont know and understand.

I'm born and raised in Thailand, and this "culture" is extremely ridiculous to me. I just want to educate everyone that this is not real Buddhism, but a "parasitic" cult/believes that is benefiting off of corrupted religion. I'm not blaming the producer to have produce the content in such way, as it is confusing (even for the local). But I just want to point out that this is not a true Buddhism that most of the people believes in or practice.

As a Thai, you should know better that Thai Buddhism is the mixture of Animism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. There is no such a thing as "Pure/real Buddhism" in Thailand since the start. Moreover, Buddhism was imported into Suvarnabhumi region as a tool for the warlords to rule the people. You can see it clearly that every Thai Royal ceremonies always performance both Hinduism and Buddhism rituals.

Got two of these sak yant tattoos done in Thailand. Not for the idea of gaining "abilities or powers" but because the designs are beautiful and the words of scripture mean something to me. You can do it just for the sake of doing it, it’s not ignorant nor does it give you power. However the process of getting a tattoo with power includes you bounding a spell or a spirit to your self, and they usually need incantation, ceremonies, and set rule. For example if you want to have good fortune you can go to a shaman where he’ll give you a tattoo and enchant a spell of fortune with it, but he’ll give you a rule that you cannot break like killing, lying, stealing, etc or it can be a vow such as you’ll ordain into monk hood, give sacrifices, etc, you’ll have good fortune asking as you live with the rules and not break them, but the moment you do break the rule or vow you’re pretty much F U C K E D.

I’m Vietnamese, I have a decent amount of Sak Yant tattoos on my back. I’ve been through the same ritual with getting chopped in the arms and back with no cuts or slashes. I studied martial arts for a bit in Thailand and Cambodia. If you’ve ever seen Thai boxing or Bokator. The hits are way more brutal than boxing or anything In the American fighting category. That’s because of the strength and blessings the tattoos have given us. Believe in or not but that’s our culture.

Based on what you're saying. You are almost invincible, blade can't hurt you while you have your tattoo. So why don't you make yourself some champion title in MMA? With your blessed tattoo, I'm sure those punch means nothing to you. Heck even Conor McGregor punch looks like weak ass to you.

Jimmy Tran Its correct. Religion is what you live on and believe in. Its just a path. It work for some, it dont work for some. Its freedom of choices and a pathway. Logically and Ultimately, if you do have deep faith and believe in something, it will work wonders for your confidence and boost self believe too at the bare minimum.

@prapanthebachelorette68033 жыл бұрын
It’s holy water intended to bless the crowd. Normally monks use a bunch of small sticks tied together sort of like a paintbrush, dip in to the water bowl then tap on you head lightly. But in this case the crowd was so huge so they had to get creative, it’s a water hose not champagne though 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I agree as a Thai person. People misunderstand this way too often. Thailand has a mix between buddhism, hinduism, and animism in our society , so some people put these together in one ceremony. *Some facts about Kru Muay Association* The Kru Muay Association originated from the separation of the amateur Muay Thai from the professional Muay Thai. This division pursued the goal to have Muay Thai recognized as an Olympic discipline by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). A project that has not been successful until today. The officials of professional Muay Thai would like to have nothing to do with Kru Muay. For them this club is only a necessary evil. If you take a closer look, you will notice that all the so-called traditional teachers of the Kru Muay Thai Association have simply appointed each other as teachers and are now worshipped by wealthy foreigners once a year. The whole association is very political, but has less fighting competence than an average boxer in Rajadamnern Stadium or a Buakauw (who is a Cambodian and not a Thai by the way). Despite comprehensive state support, the Kru Muay Association still has no coherent teaching concept for traditional Muay Boran and Muay Thai is still not Olympic. it's not a joke like this people lose their minds because of the energy or that invoked animal, it's simple some in rituals cry emotionally others are under the influence of certain resonant energies it's a culture and this culture is part of your country respect accept.... me as a foreigner, I love it, I understand it is about the spiritual discipline resonating with animal nature and the universe, it is possible to be under the influence of certain spirits, the energy when practicing the mantra or other sacred words must be careful, for example I am in the year of the earth tiger 19 /02/1998 and I'm not crazy as a small child, people told me that I look at them with the eyes of a hunter, teaching what the tiger has in my mind, I only see the tiger, as a small child I have a stubbornness and a strength and an energy great courage and I'm not afraid I can see the night as if it's day I'm weird I know.... but this is my energy I control it sometimes I teach myself around the house as if the prey is down, it's strange my olace to lick the food before eating, I have some habits of a small child, they started since I was 3 years old, my mother looks at me strangely, how I behave, and I still have these habits. if I go to the monks and do the sacrum tattoo I will manifest myself like this without Controlling myself I get such an impulse as if I do it I feel like doing this but I control myself..... if I do the ritual I will lose control with safety because there is so much energy in me that I would do this

To vice Asia do you know the origin of the call sak? And what letter of country these Thai write on body ?
@wheresidewalksend39335 жыл бұрын
That depends on where you visit to get a sak yant. More than 1000 years ago, before modern political borders were formed and before many of the ancient empires existed (such as Angkor, Sukhothai, Lanna, and Bagan), magic hand poked tattoos were found all over the region. When Buddhism was introduced to the region, and empires formed (starting around the 12th century AD), and Sanskrit languages started evolving into modern day Khmer, Thai, Lanna, and Burmese, the tattoos took on new characters for the magic incantations, as well as adopting Hindu Yantric designs and deities. Since then political borders have changed into the countries we know now of Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar - all which still practice the ancient tattoos, though often you will see old characters from past empires still being used in the regions where the old political borders once ruled... so in central Thailand (once part of the Angkorian empire), you would find Khmer letters, while in Northern Thailand, they use Lanna characters, and in Shan state of Myanmar, they use old Burmese characters.
