Hey derek. So a few things 1- the 4.2/4.0 series of engines do run at 210. 2- the rust in the windshield frame is normal. Quadratec has replacement frames for fairly cheap 3- the weber carb is an aftermarket replacement. Factory came with Carter YF computer feedback carbs, which is why there was an O2 sensor. 4- find a donor YJ or TJ with the 4.0 and steal the AX15 . The BA10/5 was an extremely weak trans, and getting parts fornthem now is almost impossible. Keep up the good vidsos!

I work for jasper engine's and our factory in willow springs Mo. builds the 6 cyl AMC that has a 3 year 100,000 mile transferable warranty. Use that number on that tag and jasper should be able to tell you the mileage of the jeep when it was installed

It's not so much the headlights that jeepers hate. Well, yeah, it is a bit of it lol but it's mostly the suspension setup. The suspension is a lot lower from the factory. So it takes a lot more lift to get you where you want to be compared to the previous cj or the TJ/LJ that followed it.

There is a patience to mechanical work that my father did not have and I have taken it upon myself to finger it out and have used fixing and rebuilding as a metaphor for recovery from brain injury. These square headlight jeeps aren't a true jeep in My opinion. They still ok . But newer jeeps aren't near as cool or tough. Early 80 to mid 80s is where they went down hill. Not being a hater. The new ones are cool for looks. But toughness. Not so much

I love those moments when he's working on a car and one of his young humans asks a question. Derek explains things so well and presents things in a way to make them think about how it could work. Watching the next generation soak up the knowledge becomes more beautiful the more my personal odometer rolls. Great stuff VGG!

I'm a CJ owner but still have a fondness for the YJs. Hell, even the TJs are good Jeeps. But I would never own anything beyond the TJ. The last of the newer model Jeeps will be carried to the boneyard behind a TJ.

I owned an 89 YJ for about 2 years before my family outgrew it and I had to sell it. But I fell in love with it. And I agree with you, the TJ is definitely the last of good Jeeps. And don't get me started on those 4 door things that call themselves a Jeep.

I am from Saskatchewan as well and I am 48. Love VVG and wish he would come up here and save one of the numerous old vehicles rotting in the tree and hills. I owned a 87 YJ and it was the worst vehicle I ever owned.

My first auto-mechanics instructor showed and taught us the SAE measured data in 1975. Clearly the common people, masses still lack the proper, correct, valid information; any, every race car driver, mechanic, etc., within each team from basic dirt tracks, SPRINT cars, Micro, ARCA, Modified, Late Model, NASCAR, F1, Indy, FIA, IMSA, LeMans, etc. know with certainty their proper operating temperatures are within the proper range and higher yetf for improved performance. That is correct 210 is also known in the scientific community as the Wrangler Temperature. Regardless a vented hood (louvers) is always a good addition to the TJs don’t know enough about the YJ

@@MarianoLu just to add to all this (I replied above yours a bit ago), I was thinking it had something to do with the small size of engine bay and the heat build up. At least, somewhere in the back of my mind I remember something to that effect. I’m 50 now, first Jeep was back in high school, a 1991 Wrangler. After that, I had many, as I alluded to in another post on this video. If I could have owned every single iteration of Jeep ever made, I would lol. Still love them after all these years, flaws and all.

You were cracking me up. I've done that a million times talking about the rotor button being left off. You're a good dad. And yes the inline 6 Jeeps run at 210 temp all day long. I have a TJ and it is really happy at that temp. That's actually a really clean YJ you found, looks to be in good condition.

My wife needs a jeep you could give it to her she just got over cancer and she's doing great now thank God and it was a fricken miracle. We still not sure about the extensive treatment she had gotten,, was quite of bit so after effects are a mother if ya get what I'm saying say a prayer for her, and will call it, ty Derek.
