Sikhs don’t claim him. I am a sikh, multiple generations of my family have been Sikh. This is the first time I am hearing of him. Sikhism prohibits any form of human Gurus after the tenth Guru. The only Guru we are ordained to follow is the holy scripture - Guru Granth Sahib. Ofcourse whatever transpired under the guise of “Guruness” is terrible and the victims deserve every reparation possible.

I used to practice Kundalini Yoga & completed a teacher training in 2019. Honestly, my teachers and classmates were all good people, seeking healing and spiritual enrichment, but something never totally sat right with me about the philosophy and lifestyle. Shortly thereafter, the allegations came out about Yogi Bhajan. It kind of confirmed the doubts I had about the Kundalini lifestyle. The yoga itself is great-it’s basically an energy healing practice. I now practice Tibetan Buddhism, which resonates much more strongly with me. It is also understandable, though, how people get pulled into cults like that because anyone who turns to yoga is seeking healing & refuge, so these practices attract a lot of vulnerable people.

Dear friend, kundalini yoga is very beautiful as well as the Sikh tradition. Please make sure that you see those lifestyles different from Yogi Bhajan. Yogi Bhajan was not a Sikh, he was mentally ill. I know many people who practice kundalini yoga (I prefer Hatha) and they are wonderful people. There is a serious issue with the concept of a Guru though.

When individuals join such ideologies or communities, they do so with the intention to sought a mentor, a guardian, a figure whom they can act as a role model. Although YOGA is the common factor, or the source that connects the community, guru to student (or servants which they eventually are transitioned to), the members use it as a channel to connect to a "higher devine." They want to experience a spiritual awakening and turning to those gurus, as something like a middle man between a higher devine and the yoga student.

So, let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Yes, the Catholic Church has had problems with pedophiles. Pedophiles also take positions as sports coaches, ice cream vendors and whatever other positions in society give them cover and easier access to children. Instead of assuming that priests are a bunch of pedophiles, people can go into the actual statistics and what do they show? They show that the percentage of pedophilia within the Catholic Church is pretty much the exact same as the percentage of pedophilia in general society. As far as Hinduism is concerned? Well, let's not forget that Mahatma Gandhi was also Hindu. And let's not forget that the vast body of religion is not spreading criminality, but endless acts of charity and kindness. And not only by the organization itself, but by its members. The religious institutions of the world are directly responsible for billions and billions of acts of charity and kindness, by billions and billions of people, consistently, over the course of thousands of years. And that is the vast majority of is influence upon society, not the corruptions which make the shock news stories. Just because some New York City police officers became hitmen for the mob does not mean that the entire New York City Police Department is just some kind of assassination team for the Mafia. So, let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Hinduism also had Mahatma Gandhi. Buddhism also had Thich Nhat Hahn (who, in 1967, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) and Christianity had the Trappist monk Thomas Merton. First of all Kudalini yoga system is not a part of Sikhism, Guru Nanak totali rejected it.
