He makes a damn good point. The fact that past convictions for selling cannabis somehow make you ineligible to legally sell cannabis is insanity. Makes no sense at all. To pass cannabis legalization laws, which implies "hey, we never should've arrested you guys in the first place" and then turn around and tell people with past cannabis convictions that they can't be included in the legal market is absolutely ridiculous. If anything, it should make them MORE qualified considering they have a hell of a lot more experience with the plant than massive tobacco or alcohol corporations.

i like the insight that your comment raises. i would be grateful if you could give your insight on something i've read about this same topic: before legalization, the fact some went to prison is the very reason why some made millions if some people didn't go to prison - then everyone would be growing / selling, supply wouldn't be artificially scarce so prices wouldn't be artificially inflated and ergo profit margins wouldn't be artificially inflated and people wouldn't have made millions. so justice would be those who went to prison collecting from those who profited from them going to prison ...justice wouldn't be exploiting cannabis consumers under legislation ...but as long as people can grow their own, they won't have to buy from legal exploitative schemes. the long and continuing history of systemic oppression against people of color needs reparations that are truly just if that oppression is to finally end. ...otherwise people will perceive to have concrete reasons to continue hostilities.

This situation is just like prohibition in America. The time before, people were drinking so much, but the the government made it illegal. Then came in the sneaky production and marketing of it, and drinking in secret. And not forgetting to the fight for profits and violence and the mass arrests from secret sales. Then, as soon as it was finally legal again in bars and stores, people and gangs selling it on the black market couldn't compete anymore because people could just go to a bar to drink or buy them from the stores and then drinking in America just declined all together at that point. This is pretty much the same reason why many sellers like NJWeedman aren't all for legalization. Because then facilities and stores could just start up, and people would just flock to them instead of the average street vendor. This is why so many people in my area of Chicago were a bit upset with the state's decision to legalize it and even start a facility. Now the competition is losing its grip to corporate America, like usual.
