Replicas made in China by the same people who make the authentic ones really define that it all comes down to marketing. People are buying replicas because they still want the "feeling" that comes with wearing a brand. Imagine what Chan or someone else in Chan's position could do if they had the money to market a new shoe brand in the market backed by the top athletes and celebrities. If Chan is able to produce the quality, he could do really well if he decided to create his own brand that was backed by some big names. It takes a ton of money to break into a market that is decades old, but if marketed correctly anything is possible.

Most people who buy the fakes would never have bought the real thing, so the brands are not losing bussiness. Chan is rights: fakes are advertisement for the brands. If the brands were really bothered by his bussiness they would move production to another country, possibly even back to the USA or to Germany. True: the vast majority of Nikes, Pumas, Adidas etc are made by independent factories under contract. Often, these factories or a handful of people in then make some "extra" shoes over and above what they are contracted for, then send them to unofficial distribution channels. Legally, the shoes are "fake", but they are literally technically identical to the real deal. Almost as real, some factories bribe people in winning factories to send spec sheets: these are detailed technical drawings, materials needs and at times recommended manufacturing techniques. As long as you can source the materials (tricky but not impossible with Adidas Boost material), you can make a near perfect replica, much more accurate than reverse engineering the shoe.

if you had a factory that could make 1000 pair a day but nike only wanted 800 pair a day you would run the extra 200 and sell them out the backdoor. this has been done for ages. You also sell the ones that dont quite make the nike quality standard instead of destroy them. You also might know cheaper shortcut that nike would not accept but that doesn't affect the look of the product so you do the shortcut and sell those too.

A year ago I ordered fake Nikes, they arrived and I was extremely impressed. Even though the site posed as a real seller, everybody could tell it was a fake. So I wondered how can some tiny company, reselling via Hongkong, make such original looking and feeling shoes. So I had an open and friendly email exchange with the guy on the other end, he was happy I liked them, usually he'd get angry mail from folks who "wondered" whether they had bought fake shoes because of how the site looked. Turns out he gets the reject parts *from the actual Nike factory* in because they pose as recyclers. Fucking amazing, same shoes, different price.

A lot of asain knock off shoe sellers in my experience position the shoes that they are selling as the real deal. And when the customer gets them, there are often obvious discrepancies in the quality and ease of use in the shoe. I used to work for a credit card company and we got a lot of calls from people trying to dispute knock off shoes that were being peddled as the real deal. Im not sure if this guy here tells his buyers they are fake, but a lot of them dont. And it isnt just "fashion" shoes, but shoes with a purpose like running shoes where you expect them to have a particular quality, for a good run.
@paendabear215 жыл бұрын
@@austinwinters3281 that's a load of shit. Of course all knock offs will not be of the same caliber. The points original poster is trying to make is a thought experiment. If everything is the same, and there are Chinese manufacturers that can fake something so well it looks like the real deal. Counterfeiting has been a trade for most of human history. The point is, if there is a fake that is indistinguishable from the real thing what makes it different. Look up the menthol10s and look at their quality, it's not hard to imagine that many replicas have gone under the radar ever since 2008. Op don't care about the fakes that aren't true replications, op only cares about a replica that is so good it's indistinguishable from the original. Why would it then just not be the original?

I really don't get how replica hurts the brand when the genuine one sells out in minutes. It's not like people are not buying genuine ones because of the fake.
@prasadbhojak3 жыл бұрын
It results in dilution of brand over a long term. Secondly they are losing big Rev share on licensing , just like pirated software
@whatevermynameis28523 жыл бұрын
@Paul Smith that doesn’t make sense, if the fakes are low quality it will be because they’re fakes not Nike. Besides if everyone is wearing Nike shoes fake or real, it increases brand awareness
@neerajnongmaithem3923 жыл бұрын
@Paul Smith I just saw a video by Harrison nevel where he brought the fake offwhite Michigan State SB dunk and real pairs to the store and some of them even said that the fakes had a better quality.
@neerajnongmaithem3923 жыл бұрын
@Paul Smith if you buy it from a good dealer you will find shoe models which are better in quality than the real ones. Especially the Nike shoes who are not limited edition because most nike shoes are mass produced on the other hand the replica of these models are not.
@neerajnongmaithem3923 жыл бұрын
@Paul Smith so true man, I bought a pair of 'waverunner' replica 3 years ago for 50 bucks and it's still going strong no tears or problems whatsoever. One more positive being that I don't need to baby them. I just got an another pair of sb dunks for 50 bucks and those are just good as the original.

We need more people like him! To put a dent in Nike and Adidas. Maybe finally Nike and Adidas will wake up and start selling their sneakers at a reasonable price, and they can stop with the limited supply BS!

Its pretty funny that most of these high quality replicas are made from the same material as the originals. You can sue one company in China, but 100 more will pop up. 🤣🤣
@marke90366 жыл бұрын
Or even the same factory in different shifts.
@xyzhou62076 жыл бұрын
Fake or not really depends on whether it's from official channel
@klwin3606 жыл бұрын
Thats true. But also as someone previously said, these replicas are also made by people that work for the official company. They take extra shifts so they can make more money because they get paid like shit. And that's also a fact that I can confirm because I know several people that have these side jobs..
@cachem116 жыл бұрын
To be honest, living in both China and United States back and forth for 10 years, I have never seen even one pair of fake shoes that close enough to the originals. They do get recognized as fake instanly by "hype beasts". They all claimed they are from the same factory with same material blah, blah, blah, but those were just lies to increase sale volumes.
@FaithandNova6 жыл бұрын
It's funny how they say it's made from the same materials as the real ones yet the quality of the fake ones aren't the best. They are not as comfortable nor do they last as long.

should be called replica, there is nothing fake about them except the logo and design, high grade replicas are really good. made with great material
