Having parents who served as missionaries for 2 years (while being in their 60's) and having been to Haiti myself for a week long mission trip with my 10 year old, it breaks my heart to see the citizens of Haiti to be in so much pain. I'm a typical guy and don't cry often but I shed many tears on the plane when we left Haiti. I hope I can go back with my wife and daughters someday to continue to serve these lovely people.

The Haitian president was corrupt. But the problem with a corrupt leader is that the leader is powerless when someone offers his men more money than he can offer. His guards were clearly bribed, but this is the own presidents fault for creating the opportunity for that to happen. He gave drug gangs assault rifles to secure his power. He was bringing in a law that said the president could not face any legal consequences for any crime. He used gangs to intimidate protesters over the last two years.
