Went to Atlantic City in 1967 and was given a tour of the instrument ... my visit coincided with the opening of the American Medical Association Convention ... was in the great chamber when the organist played The Star Spangled Banner. YOWWWZZZZERRRRR. Glad to see this gem being brought back to life.

I went about a year ago and the place was closed for restoration. Being from California it was amazing I noticed it from the bus ride outside the city and it was the 1st place I went to on the Boardwalk. I would love to see hockey return. A security guard let me look inside after 3 days of looking in the front doors. Wish I could see the place thriving again.

i work on the organ there almost every wednesday and just helped at the symposium they had this week if a multimillionaire were to donate all the money to fully restore it, it would cost atleast 10 million dollars

What would it cost to bring this organ up to every specification in the original design? In other words, if a multimillionaire were to make a donation to restore this instrument, what would it take? I know much has been damaged by insensitive construction work, but to work around those challenges is part of the question. Thanks!

You can, this organ is now pretty much fully operational and is played every Saturday.

They said that the diaphone was not used much due to plaster falling from the cieling
@CockatooDude9 жыл бұрын
Shining Armor Well I bet they fixed that, I mean there are alternatives to plaster nowadays.

How could they let this organ to decay so bad.

It wasn't that. There was a hurricane, and then it was never able to be recovered. Until now.

+Fabi G. They have to, otherwise it won't stay in tune. They're already having enough trouble keeping up with the +- 33000 pipes being in tune, just leaving the beast would take it out of tune even more quickly because of dust and stagnant and stale air.

In my opinion, 10 or 20 million is actually incredibly cheap. Less than what a bunch of soccer players get every month. Sad.
