I have one main thought to share, and I hope it resonates. The concept of “double-clicking” feels flawed-it doesn’t just open a few windows but instead unleashes a cascade, leading to an overwhelming maze of information layers. Through the lens of deconstruction, this approach does deepen understanding, yet it seldom offers clarity or a clear way forward. It’s a bit like answering every question with “it depends…” or “perhaps…” To illustrate: 1. Research suggests that while the left hemisphere is adept at direct associations, the right hemisphere excels at recognizing subtler connections. For example, when given the word “foot,” the left hemisphere chooses “heel,” but when presented with “cry” and “glass,” the right hemisphere discerns “cut.” 2. After months of thoughtful conversations with experts on cultivating right-hemispheric awareness, one concept rose to the top: subtlety. Frank Morier, a retired horse trainer, could intuit subtle cues from a horse’s warm-up and consistently set better odds than bookmakers. Yet, whenever he attempted to formalize or explain his process, his accuracy faltered. In some ways, frameworks with a narrow focus suit the left hemisphere’s style, proving useful in straightforward scenarios. But in complex contexts requiring nuance, rigid frameworks can easily obstruct more meaningful insights. In that spirit, while you advise against adopting new vocabulary that may evolve into buzzwords, perhaps it also compresses and communicates layered ideas in valuable ways. If vocabulary serves this dual role, frameworks could too-though if wielded superficially, they might appear insightful without capturing the “subtle” truths beneath.

So good❤ Very clear once again. In my own words, I say.. Strategy is.. coming out with a game plan that increases probability of senerios that make u win. (Ya still leaves alot of room for improvement 😊) But this explanation you did is super helpful. Learning alot as always. Yes, these day the word "strategy" is being used loosely with the activity of setting to-do list.

How about tactics? I always learned strategy was overall, while tactics dealt with implementation.

There's a good book that explains this- Good Strategy, Bad Strategy. The structure of setting a strategy is typically 1) identify the problem 2) create a policy for solving the problem, and 3) set coordinated actions for solving that problem. Tactics are basically the actions in step 3. Strategy is steps 1 and 2.

"You need more concepts" is such a valuable insight. My experience is that the only thing that gives people a truly impressive or expressive vocabulary is reading. You can learn a lot about a culture about how the most visible people speak to it - Biden for example was using the lowest grade level vocabulary of any president. What if that means that teaching people to speak with more expansive concepts will eventually alienate others? That's my doomer take haha.

I've consulted for 40 years. 50% don't have a strategy. 50% of those aren't strategic, often just a checklist of projects to do. And, when I started only high-end consulting used the word strategic. As you say, now it is overused and diluted. Very annoying, everyone who makes content is a "social media strategist". Ugh.
