Beautifully said about Jennifer Brooks - I still go back to her channel and watch old videos too 💔 I'm reading Far From the Madding Crowd and I'm loving it! I vaguely remember reading Tess and wasn't that keen... but this one might even be a 5* read for me!

@@sesame135 I am so glad that her videos are still there for us to go back and watch, she seemed like such a beautiful human and it was so fun to listen to her talk about books. 💜 I am so glad to hear u like far from the madding crowd more than Tess! I’m hoping I feel the same way! Haha

I just rewatched some of Jennifer and Alice's video's. I just finished The Sign of Four and am in the middle of No Name. I want to get to Silas Marner and East Lynne.

Get hyped bro 🙌 I love the Brontës. Since you like Madame Bovary, I'll recommend Like Death by Guy de Maupassant. He was a student of Flaubert's and you can really see it in this short novel. I loved North and South; I really should read more Gaskell. I CERTAINLY need to start reading Eliot and Collins. I miss Jennifer too ❤

If you’re watching The Importance of Being Earnest, you have to watch the 1952 movie. It’s the most faithful adaptation of the play and is great

I have read all the books you mentioned. I loved them all. I have a love and hate reading relationship with Charles Dickens and I happily say that Dombey And Son is my all time favorite from him and is in my top 5 Victorian classic novels. 😊

Looks like a good list, Mckenzie! I'm hoping October will be a productive month for me. I'm looking to finish a writing project this month, so that's pretty awesome. Latin studies are still going well, though I need to find a better way for memorizing the vocab (any possible tips you may have would be appreciated). That's my little update. Hope to see more vids soon!

My favourite Victorian novel is 'Jane Eyre' - l've just watched an older version (1969) of 'An Ideal Husband' with Jeremy Brett which was great fun, it's my favourite Oscar play.

Ooh Wuthering Heights is my top favorite... I've reread that book more than any other ever, I think! But another atmospheric gem is The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I'm a sucker for a good moor, apparently lol.

Great video! Your explanation about your relationship with Dickens is exactly like mine. I want to like his writing and have several of his books, but I’m not convinced that I can like it. I love your Jennifer Brooks comments. Yes! So sad and I have rewatched some of her content as well. My favorite Victorian books are probably Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. Mostly for the atmosphere. I’m also wanting to pick up Wilkie Collins’ The Woman in White and some Anthony Trollope (for the religious tone). I loved Madame Bovary so I’m hoping to enjoy The Doctor’s Wife too. Happy Victober!

I’m only reading one or two books for Victober - rereading Wuthering Heights and possibly picking up The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. My favourite Victorian novels are Tess of the D’Urbervilles and Jude the Obscure. I have a difficult relationship with Dickens too but Dombey and Sons is one of his better books.

I am almost half way in The Mill of the Floss and enjoying it so far. I really want to get to Mary Barton by Gaskell and The Return of the Native by Hardy. I also would love to listen to wuthering heights and north and south but idk if I can get all that in!

I'm just going with Silas Marner, because I already started three books that are everything but Victorian. I think I've only read about fifteen Victorian books, but my favorite is Wuthering Heights. I love unrelenting misery in my stories 🥲.
