Pickwick papers is such a fun book. It’s a good one to read while you read others since it’s very episodic.

Emily, I always love seeing your Victober tbrs! Lord Arthur Savile's Crime is a lot of fun for Halloween!

Oh I will save Lord Arthur saviles Crime for the end of the month. This Tbr is one of my favourites to mark every year and I’m always so grateful and excited about the Readathon x

Great choices Emily. I ❤ Dickens and Wilkie Collins too. I was in Rochester last week visiting Dickens Writing Chalet. Pickwick defo visits Rochester. Don't think I've read Poor Miss Finch so will look out for that. Thanks for reccomending. Alice would be very happy with the ConanDoyle prompts. She and her brother loved all the Sherlock Holmes stories so much.Think watching Katie talking about Victober got Alice interested in Booktube, certainly was the first video she shared with me.❤ Enjoy a wonderful Victober!🔎 Was that Sweep sharing your choices?😻

Thanks so much for watching Jane ❤️ Wilkie Collins is definitely a new favourite for me. I would love to go to Rochester, will nag chris or Charlie. Victober also bought me to booktube. I’m trying to read more Conan Doyle too in honour of Alice. She really did get me into cosy Mysteries ❤️❤️ xx Yes Sweep loves popping in

I think you'll really like the Vicar of Bullhampton. I hope you like The Pickwick Papers! It's very silly and funny. I also really liked Poor Miss Finch and think its disability rep is very interesting - not always perfect but it really subverts Victorian assumptions about blindness and disability more widely.

I’m enjoying Poor miss finch at the moment and I think it discusses blindness differently to other Victorian literature. I saw that you enjoyed The vicar of bullhampton.

🔎🔎 Be patient with Mr Pickwick. There are digressions but lots of rewards and some very funny moments. I hope you enjoy reading it. It is in my top 5 Dickens. |So much to enjoy in Victober!

Wonderful choices, Emily. I, too, love Great Expectations. Because I used to teach it, I had reason to re-read it frequently. Somehow, I've never read any Anthony Trollope, and I think I need to change that. I've heard so many people speak well of his books here on BookTube. I hope you have a wonderful month of October. I've just come home from ten days in Ireland, and I'm afraid I came home sick, so I'm way behind in my video-watching and in my own planning for the month to come.

Oh you poor love being sick, hope you feel better soon. Definitely recommend Anthony Trollope..

@@novellenovels thank you, Emily. I’m finally feeling better. I will definitely investigate Trollope. How could I never have encountered him??!

You and I are both planning on Pickwick Papers then. It fits both Katie's and Marissa's challenges so well. I am intimidated by the page count but it's meant to be fun. I am sure you'll find a play to squeeze in with all this other lovely stuff.

Yay maybe we can chat about the pickwick papers? I will definitely be looking for a play to read or watch. I’m so excited ☺️

A fascinating line-up for your Victober adventure! I'm currently reading Anthony Trollope's 'Barchester Towers' but this is going to spill over into next month, so I'll be counting it was one of my Victober reads. I'd like to add another book but my wife's having heart surgery next Monday and obviously reading will be taking a back seat for a while (indeed, it has already been relegated somewhat as we've been preparing for her operation). If I can, I'd like to slip in a Hardy novel, as there are still just a few of his that I haven't yet read ... 'Under The Greenwood Tree' is a candidate. I think the recognition of Jennifer and Alice is a really nice aspect of this year's Victober and I'm sure they'd both want everyone to thoroughly enjoy the event, even if there is an unavoidable touch of sadness for lost friends. Thanks for the video - I was there at the end so here is a pair of magnifying glasses - kind regards, Brian 🔍🔎

Enjoy Victober, sounds a good line up, I may reread North and South, that way I can skip ahead when I'm feeling bogged down or maybe reread Cranford instead for the same reason, too many other reads stacked up like Wandering Stars and Buddha in the Attic, plus I'll be reading Witch Wood by John Buchan and 2 Grady Hendrix horror n9vels for October, one isabut a Haunted IKEA titled Horrorstor.😮
