He has his critics, in South America, where they are great fans of Hispanic culture but not American culture so much. In Chili he has been labeled a neocon, which they confusingly define as anti Stalinist.
@seasidesue816

bluskies1000 That doesn’t make a lot of sense. He has spoken many times about Hispanics because he lives in the midst of them in Selma, CA The legal immigrants actually appreciate much of what he says. I’m surprised that they even know who VDH is in South America. What’s wrong with being anti-Stalinist??? Aren’t we all? Shouldn’t people on the LEFT AND the RIGHT be anti-Stalinist? You make it sound like people in Chile are PRO-stalinists.

Dan, I am sympathetic to that last bit, but that's not an opinion you can express without saying, "so here is my solution." Do you want to deport all non-whites? Do you want to stop all immigration? (that would not be a bad idea - say, a moratorium on immigration for 10 years) We cannot stop people from reproducing who are already here. The white birthrate is much lower than the Hispanic (a catch-all term that is too general) or black birthrate. I agree that self-loathing globalist multiculturalists (that's not a recitation of gobblygook - it's an apt description) are poison to the US and Western Culture in general. I agree that we must push back with all our might against the "diversity is our strength crowd". I agree above all else that anyone who tries to shame "old white men" should be put on an iceberg and shoved offshore in Nome, Alaska.

Agreed: mandatory listening. I'm not well read enough to sharpen just one of his arguments, but it occurs to me in his touching on Principled Realism that the business of shifting to a different perspective than what the US government has clung to the last 75 years pretty much dovetails with our State department being polluted with progressives. Of note to me is the mirage of so called "eurosocialism" which might not even exist but for the US underwriting their security to free up more cash than they ever knew what to do with - and warping their will for self preservation. Have we destroyed Europe? I think it's a real question, as evidenced in the micro: Karl Marx was a trust fund kid who became a misanthrope with all the money he didn't know what to do with. Things are still unfolding, and... I have a ton of reading to do.

I remember the congressional hearings on opening trade with China. None of us in the room had a degree in Economics or Poli Sci, yet we were all agreed that it was bad, bad idea. I'm stunned at the number of very intelligent people that bought into the idea that wealth automatically creates Democracy. You didn't have to look past the Middle East to know this dictum to be false. My father noted that to have wealth, at some point it must be created. We can't perpetuate ourselves just servicing each other. Now it is clear, when we exported our manufacturing jobs, we gave up a huge engine for wealth creation.

Crash103179 yes this is true. The West bought people over to study in our countries and taught them all our knowledge and skills, at the same time we created our own competitors whom we now have to compete with. This was done out of a "help the world mentality " which was a noble idea" but it was done more so for the big money that could be made from the overseas students. The universities also then went on to pander to these ethnic groups by glossing over their bloody histories, and focusing ad nauseum on the British Empire and Fascist Germany. The kids coming out f uni today, are very knowledgeable about the sins of the West but know nothing if the 9million killed by the Japanese, in 1937'1938 and 1939 when they invaded China. They know nothing of the millions killed under the Ottomon Turkish Muslim Empire or the caliphates set up by invading Muslims in Syria in 1850, when they massacred all other ethnicities and Christians in Damascus and Aleppo. They don't know that the Muslims invaded Northern Africa in earlier centuries, Keller and enslaved 100,000,s of thousands of Black Africans.

I am so very thankful that Dr. Hanson hails from California. For too long our entire State has been represented by the Bay Area and Hollywood. City dwellers that have forgotten where their consumable commodities come from. The people that don't have to live by the same social order they demand of others. The cool ones who will make an expensive piece of electronic gear "fall off the back of a truck" and into your hands only to blame the trucker when the trailer arrives to it's destination completely empty. Frustration doesn't even begin to describe our angst. Today I filled out a Mid Term ballot that featured Democrat vs. Democrat for many offices. THIS is the kind of choice you get from the scumbags driving our beautiful State like they stole it and who fully intend to jump it over the Pacific landing in downtown Beijing. Thanks Hillsdale for this great presentation!

Mudhut Productions having lived around Fresno, spent most of my time in the Bay Area, and been educated at one of the exemplary universities there, and while now living in Los Angeles, my superficial impression is that, the people who have made this state suck are mostly people who hail from elsewhere. The core Californian is either leaving, left already, or plugging their noses and putting up with the Jerry Brown who ha and Newsom encore... I agree, it’s great to know someone like VDH is from the heart of this state! There’s hope yet!

So love your comment. I'm a transplant from Silicon Valley and in my 30 years living here in the same valley he hails from I've leaned a lot from the farming and ranching folks and it's all good useful things.

@@mR-dc4oq Sir let me impart a bit of knowledge to you as an immigrant to CA but a proud American none-the-less. California has been ruled by FOUR families for 80 years now. Pelosi's, Newsom's, Brown's and Fienstein/Getty's so if you don't believe me do your own research the info is public. These four mob cartels has been shaping California and now we have it. Who voted these people into high offices? The very people who up and left. The very people who lived high on the hog then when it began hurting they cashed in and ran. How is it that Nancy Pelosi has been in the Senate for over 30 years? How is it that Fiendstien is in the Senate for so long? How is it that the Brown's both Father and son became two term governors. How is it that Nancy's nephew now is the governor of CA? Pete Wilson was the last Republican gov way back when and I recall how the Democrats mistreated him so why did the core-Californians not rise up and do something about it at that time? Please learn something useful so we may be able to salvage our state!

Amazing speech, maybe his best overall assessment of what has gone on over the last decade. Encouraging but tinged with the reality of our national divide. Problem is that we on the right get angry at the lefts nonsense but do not hate...I would like to hate at times, just can’t. Love the first questioner must be Henry Kissinger’s brother?

I do highly respect this man. He speaks truth and has a grip on history from a human perspective. I wish though that he would look at the perfectly detailed events prophecied and discribed in the Bible, of the world but especially the Middle East.

Because most faculties would never let someone of his outlook (political) pass through. But then, I was in the social sciences so maybe other disciplines consist of faculty that are more "tolerant" and open to people unlike themselves

@Myron Jones They do think, but many think badly and superficially. I personally have been a Democrat for decades, but I see very little thought and good common sense, not to mention leadership, coming from the Democratic Party these days. Much of what Trump has done (i.e. Immigration, tariffs, trade deficits, non-conflict-engagement, cost of global security, to name a few), I agree with - but these (good) things are delivered by such an ugly, crude package.

Garrison Nichols you would never see Obama hug and kiss the american flag in the comical way Trump did at that event back in May or June. You would never see HW Bush, Clinton, or W Bush do it either for that matter.

I'm from Europe (Denmark) and very much support Trump's standing up and demanding more Europe, with regard to NATO and to trade, etc. We are rich. It's dishonorable that we're not lifting out part. I wish he'd go out again and demand 2% now, or no NATO.

wow, such a profound speech. it is an honor to have individuals of his stature amongst us.he is objective and candid. dr. hanson touched on a large number of significant facts which tend to be ignored and need be focused on before we lose all freedoms and liberty. such as how it is clearly evident who was calling the shots. Obama.
