Preemptive pardons are legal and have precedence. When Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon in 1974, it was a preemptive pardon. Part of the deal of the Nixon preemptive pardon is that it “carries an imputation of guilt and that it’s acceptance carries a confession of guilt”. The text paraphrased was from the text of a 1915 Supreme Court case, Burdick v United States which the Nixon pardon was based from.

@@rileypup5959 Ford realized he was doing something extraordinary and probably should not have done it because today, in clown world, you get what BIden did. This so called "precedent" could literally be used by every outgoing administration to shield them from all accountability for the most egregious actions. It would obliterate literally all government accountability for corruption and illegal behavior completely and forever. The pardons should be challenged. How can you pardon someone who has not been convicted?

Remember Ford pardoned Nixon. There’s no question about the constitutionally of presidential preemptive pardons, SCOTUS already okayed them years ago

The question of preemptive pardons is a question for judicial review. Those who adhere to original intent will deem them unconstitutional. I sincerely hope that the Supreme Court will be called upon to rule on this matter.

A Canadian here: All the pardons! - but - the Clintons and others were not pardoned, so could they throw the Bidens and others under the bus...? **I thought Trump's speech was incredibly amazing and to the point. The corruption is OVER! Go Trump Team! There was a lot of stirring music. The Celtic song 'Oh America was perfect.' Never heard that song before and it brought tears to my eyes ( though I think the melody is from either WWI or WWII -- "Weep No More My Soldier Laddie")

@lorellgingrich6603 Biden pardoned a bunch of his family members. Prepardons may not me legal. I don’t think anyone has ever done it before.

brandon forgot to pardon himself. Every member of his family crime syndicate has lost the ability to invoke the 5th so if called by congress to testify they will have to answer fully and honestly. Lying would be a new crime not covered by the pardons. They could drop a dime on The Big Guy who hopefully will retire permanently to Gitmo in a very tiny cell!

Either the Senate Finance Committee and or the House Ways and Means Committee should subpoena the pardoned family members and look at there Tax Returns and financial transactions. If they don’t show up to the congressional subpoena they should be referred to the DOJ for prosecution of contempt of congress (ie Steve Bannon and Petter Navarro charged by J6 committee), if they knowingly lie or fail to explain the financial details… they should be referred to the DOJ for lying to congress and contempt of congress.
