Putin has never acted on impulse...never...he has often said in public that geopolitical matters have a mathematical logic to them....this military campaign wasn't dreamed up 2 months ago rather it has been on Russia's strategic drawing board for quite a few years. Putin and the Russian elite thinkers around him are strong and well versed geopolitical chess players and thus have taken bold action (which is incorrectly viewed as opportunistic and somewhat emotionally driven by many so called experts) based on all the pieces, positions and potential maneuvers of his US/NATO opponents. Notice how Russia has barely responded in word or deed to all the monumental sanctions etc? ...Barely a word, that should give everyone pause... The Russian's knew the potential consequences but they did it anyway; why? ...Desperation? No! Pressure? No! Were tricked? No!.... I suspect that it is the US deep state and warmonger neocons of Congress that have fallen into their own trap and the consequences will be their undoing.

What an extraordinary session with Victor Davis Hanson. So much wisdom and insight, informed by history which we continue to ignore - we don't teach it, we don't refer to it, and consequently we don't learn from it... so we repeat it. I just wish, as an Australian that John Anderson would run again for Federal Parliament. This country desperately needs people of calibre who can bring civil, intelligent, wise and experienced dialogue to debate on policy, on the future of democracy and the direction Australia needs to go in. Ukraine has woken the conscience of the world but I wonder, as Niall Ferguson said in another interview with John Anderson, will the West's 'attention deficit disorder' kick in and in three months from now we've moved on from Ukraine and the lessons there, will Germany ramp up its spending on NATO. The West has weakened itself and Conservatism has become a dirty word. Not a good outlook. But thank you John Anderson for flying the flag. These interviews as so valuable.

I have admired Mr. Hanson for years now. I highly recommend his most recent book. It is not an easy read. Be prepared to study it carefully, take it in strides, and do not gloss over terms or situations which do not easily appear in your range of view. His message is critical to our survival as a nation as well as the world around us. I know of no other knowledgeable man with such a breadth of information at his disposal who yet chooses to present all that he delineates with such calm clarity and objectivity. He has an awareness of so many points of view that it's uncanny. Most of the time we encounter a man with a fount of knowledge who is all too eager to tell you which direction to take and that his conclusion is the best or most accurate one to adopt. Mr. Hanson is different. He is a true teacher. He is not a savior. He provides readers and thinkers with multiple senses of awareness and merely hopes that people make choices wisely.

The USA has a MONROE DOCTRINE! Does anyone remember the Cuban Missile Crisis? Do you remember how you murdered Allende in Chile (1973)? How did you change governments in Guatemala (1954), Bolivia (1971), and Nicaragua (1990)? The size of Ukraine is similar to France, so it takes at least one week for the tanks to arrive.The campaign goes very well. The USA and the EU are funding neonazi groups in Ukraine, like the Right Sector. The Americans demand Putin accept a NATO Ukraine with nuclear missiles that can reach Moscow in a few minutes. Usual American propaganda. It's a DISGRACE to hear HANSON saying all this nonsense.

No mention of the Minsk Agreement or the fighting and death toll it was supposed to prevent. And I remember, in the 1960s, the US not wanting USSR missiles in Cuba, yet the West is unable to see the similarity with NATO missiles in Ukraine. After the West's dysfunctionality with the pandemic, like Canada's state of emergency and the US closure of the Keystone pipeline, this is just a continuation of their state of unreality. So Germany has reversed its energy policies, yet how long will it take to build the infrastructure and arrange a resilient fuel supply for it? And the British government is still resisting the restart of fraccing. Does nobody in Western governments understand industry? The West has been developing policies over bathrooms policies and climate change compliment battle tanks, and now reality has hit them. Their mistakes are basic and long term, going back well over two decades, so the current jingoism in the legacy media looks so crass. And it makes any resolution to the problems in Ukraine that much harder. Poor Ukraine: the country's inhabitants deserve better, much better.
@josephcioppa19432 жыл бұрын
yes, very disappointing is true. Seems like the same way the world looks at the Palestinian/Israeli issue is the way they approach the Russian/Ukrainian problem. There are so many cause and effect undercurrents that are not being spoken of and the overall issue is addressed in a very shallow fashion, all surface discussions.
