He sounds like Johnny Griffin! I don't always get to hear that in the Lincoln center band. Sounds great!

Yeah, he plays much different here than at Lincoln Center. So versatile

I enjoyed this as much as any of the performance videos I've seen on your channel. That superimposed tempo thing he did in _Oleo_ was pretty sick. Looks like he's playing on Vandoren mouthpieces on the saxes?
@jazzstar1459 жыл бұрын
rloomis3 Yeah Victor is playing on Vandoren mouthpieces. Not sure if all of them are but for sure his Tenor mouthpiece is vandoren

He is playing on a V16 T7

I tried the whole Vandoren deal, but wasn't my cup. I'm using an Otto Link Tone Edge, it's just about right for me.

JazzTruckin I think vandorens great if you’re looking for quality with a relatively low price. V16s are nice mouthpieces and are in the 100s. Reeds are nice too, I personally use d’addarios tho but to each their own

@Coderedpirate I also use the D’Addarios Royal 3.5 for my Tenor, great reeds. I actually switched back to Vandoren for my Alto (the V-16) as it turned out, I was playing wrong LOLOLOLOL, but the Otto Link is still the setup I’m using for my Tenor. The funny thing about the Otto Link was I didn’t know what I was playing on, just that it was a great mouthpiece, then a few weeks later, I looked up what I was playing with, and was kinda surprised (pleasantly). Greg Fishman looked at my setup and said I was playing on a classical setup, go figure.
