Even though I know the story of her argument as a woman who is currently identifying as a man is valid

I saw this in the movies when it opened, and when she verbally destroys him with such finesse , the audience went nuts and was whistling and clapping.

The part that redeems this scene is when he says ‘I don’t care if you are a man.’ And then kisses her. My best friend was quite upset with this scene when we watched it together and at the part where he says ‘I don’t care if you are a man,’ she was happy and said ‘this movie just redeemed itself.’ I agree with her

I hate to disagree with your friend's opinion, but King very obviously did care whether or not Victoria was a man, and only said that line after he hid in Victoria and Toddy's bathroom and watched Victoria take a bath, so he already knew she was a woman.
@dawnderouen41342 жыл бұрын
@@TonHyukOTPoriginally he wasn't going to have spied on her in the bath and that line and kiss happen with him still unsure but smitten anyway. Blake Edwards added that scene in because he self admitted that he "chickened out"

But .. when he said ''I don't care if you are a man'' and kissed her, he already knew that she wasn't a man having seen her undress for a bath. It would have been better if he'd kissed her still not knowing that.

My favorite Julie Andrews movie
@BethDiane9 жыл бұрын
It's a wonderful movie. The one problem is that Julie Andrews looks enough like a man to be convincing, but she has completely the wrong kind of voice--you watch any of the videos of her singing in this movie, and the only way a man could possibly sound like that was if he took constant puffs of helium.
@caterpillarinthemirror35534 жыл бұрын
that's not true. Here in Brazil we have more than one male singer who sings naturaly whit an voice like that. And they are not trans ou take any kind of pills or hormone
@BethDiane3 жыл бұрын
@@caterpillarinthemirror3553 It's not a matter of pitch, more of timbre. If you listen to a grown man singing soprano, it will sound noticeably different from a woman singing soprano. But a boy singing in the high soprano range will in fact sound remarkably similar to a grown woman who is a light lyric coloratura singing in that same range.
@glo-wrm2 жыл бұрын
@@BethDiane Maybe that's the point is that she doesn't sound like a man. She might not have a "deep" voice like most other men, but having a deep voice isn't a requirement for being a man - she's challenging manhood and what it means to be a man simply by being herself.

@@glo-wrm while i absolutely agree that a man can have any kind of voice, and i have personally known men who are mistaken for women on the phone because their voices read as female, the other commenter is correct - it often takes a great deal of voice training for someone to change their voice to sound different from their birth sex, not due to pitch, but timbre and other tells. I've seen various shows and movies that have a woman portraying a man, and almost all of them challenge my suspension of disbelief purely due to the voice. Some, however, have the actress train to masculinize her voice so when she is in "boy mode", she legitimately reads as a (small, pretty) man, and it is much easier to get into the show/movie because of it. Julie Andrews only reads as a man in this film when she isnt speaking or singing.
