So much wisdom in this video especially with music it's all about listening and more and more listening. Then listening and emulating what you hear, that's how we learned to talk as a child way before we ever went to school.

As an English teacher and life-long musician myself, this is such a great perspective on educating - I really like these ideas.

I love this so much. As a guitar teacher my approach is from a similar perspective. Every lesson is a performance, an improvisation, reacting to the student I have in front of me now, in today's head space and interest level, not the person they should/could be or were last week. What do they need today? And yes, sometimes a lesson is an hour of talking to each other, perhaps listening to songs, teaching them to listen and hear all the instruments, maybe introducing each other to musicians and performances and music, perhaps talking about guitars or amps or pedals or the physics of instruments. Validating their interests and enthusiasm and giving them a sense of accomplishment in music doesn't have to involve the lesson I had in mind before they walked in the door.
