11:27 This is half correct. Russia is being severely affected by sanctions (which are not the same as embargo’s as embargo’s are worse) but as long as Russia has China to help economically and India they can at least keep the war going. That is not to say they aren’t being affected just look at the Rubles worth now compared to the dollar to see real damage. But a country under war if it truly commits and especially a country as large as Russia can decided to just keep going and try to get materials from other countries. It will be harder and they won’t be able to get everything they had before for their industry but they can find enough loopholes in sanctions to continue functioning. The real question is when Russia will run out of foreign currency because at some point that will happen and when it does then things will get interesting. For more info I recommend this video and basically a ton of other videos on sanctions against Russia from this channel. Video in the responses

This answer btw is also oversimplified as their are a ton of factors gaining into how Russia deals with the sanctions and how much they affect Russia in different areas. It’s not as simple as Russia isn’t barely affected by them or that they will destroy Russia. It’s more complicated and sanctions in their nature are meant to cause long term economic damage over many many years. What many foolish western so called experts went out and said at the start was how this will destroy Russia in the short term when it’s more or less the opposite. Harm Russia in the long term.

Having to justify your autrocities to the people is actually a big reason that monarchies were so stable. Monarchies have a lot of weird traditions they have to follow, and if you don’t adhere to these traditions when commiting a crime against humanity, you essentially lost your moral high ground in the eyes of the other people in power. This is also a big reason why nazi germany was so brutal as compared to the second reich. Essentially, as a new state unbound by traditions, and one that claimed its legitimacy from populism isntead of tradition, you could basically just claim that genocide was the will of the people, hence why nazi germany was so bad. Essentially, traditions and religion were the ancient version of checks and balances, before selcular liberalism could introduce the concept more formally and in a more refined manner. So yes, you’re right that the Brittish Empire had to justify its genocides and atrocities to its people. Can you imagine a world where Britain wasn’t restrained by tradition? While a world without European colonialism might have been prefersble in most cases, we can at least be glad that Britian was the one country that became the colonial hedgemon, because the other European colonial powers were usually much worse.

10:37 Actually I’m 85% sure it’s Sweden and Denmark who have fought the most against each other.
