Estefanía Izaguirre Well, the whole point of getting married in a church, is to recieve God's blessing. Queen Victoria's wedding also was a bit long. Why bother asking a priest to wed you if you don't want to listen to a sermon, and actually do the ceremony? Most royal families intermarry, including the current British monarchy. Both Elizabeth and Philip are Victoria's great great grandchildren. Because so many of Victoria's children and grandchildren married into other European royal families, Elizabeth and Philip are second cousins on one side of the family and third cousins on the other side.
@rwboa224 жыл бұрын
@@rosemorris7912, if you really look at the family trees of the major European Royal families, the vast majority of the current (and deposed) monarchs, including Elizabeth II, are descended from Queen Victoria (House of Hannover; the ruling house becoming the House of Saxe-Coeburg-Gotha, renamed Windsor in 1917, upon her death in 1901) and King Christian IX of Denmark (House of Glücksburg, which will become(?) the House of Monpezat or Glücksburg-Montpezat as the Crown Prince is agnatically descended from Prince Consort Henri of Montpezat). In fact, Christian IX was the maternal grandfather of both George V (Victoria's grandson through Edward VII and Alexandra) and Nicholas II of Russia (through Tsar Alexander III and Maria Feodorovna), which by coincidence looked liked each other's döppelganger. Scary, but that is why a lot of states in the U.S. prohibit the marriage of first cousins. Look at the Spanish Habsburgs (with the infamous "Habsburg Jaw") and Tsaravitch Alexy with hemophilia (his mother, Alexandra, being a German-born grandaughter of Queen Victoria).

Well, that was pretty standard back in the 19th century. Royalty was expected to marry other royalty, which meant that they all intermarried in fairly small circles. This actually caused Victoria a great deal of trouble when their eldest son Bertie became old enough to marry, because there was simply no suitable princess available at the time. She even wrote to her eldest daughter Vicky asking her to help find her brother a bride of a suitably royal background. Alexandra of Denmark was pretty much chosen by default.

He was very handsome, she was not so beautiful. I thought that she fell in love with him right away, but that it took him about a year. Once he had realized who she was internally, he fell in love deeply. If that's true, then the wedding night could've certainly been good--but I doubt like this...

@MissJessyeNorman7 жыл бұрын
+Furienna Yes, I know _she_ thought it was amazing, lol ;) I guess we can be blinded by our own desires, and their effect on our perceptions. And I do know that Magdalenkaization is correct, in that he was always very supportive, and even loving towards her from the start. He had agreed to the match and he meant to make good on it--to do all he could on his end, to make a successful marriage (I believe he had to be persuaded of the merits of the union initially, by his German mentor, the Baron von Stockmar--but he certainly was). So, he was also certainly working to make a good marriage, as he _abhorred_ the infidelities of his father. He was absolutely sickened by them, and wanted a pure, honest, and intact marriage for himself. Thus, being of that romantic, poetic, musical, sweeping Germanic temperament, I can see how he would be a thrilling lover--esp. if you were mad about him, and he was making all of the dashing, loving, tender overtures, one expects...

I read the biography of Victoria, which says that they only met once, and three (!) years later they saw each other again, and thén they married..
@Furienna7 жыл бұрын
And we now know that Albert's bad relationship with his father was also the reason why his relationship with his son Bertie (the future king Edward VII) went awry. Bertie was more like his grandfather (Ernst I of Sachsen-Coburg) and his uncle (Ernst II of Sachsen-Coburg) than his father. So he would become a sleazy womanizer, who cheated on his wife with every woman he fancied. Of course, Bertie was not yet married while Albert was still alive (he was only twenty years old when his father died). But he did have an affair with an actress, which his father eventually found out about. And it was the final proof, that a concerned Albert (who had probably already seen a family pattern in Bertie's behavior) needed to realize where his son was headed in life. And alas, he was right. :( It is worth mentioning though that despite that Albert managed to stay faithful to his wife, he seems to have been a great lover as well. After all, he and Victoria had nine kids despite how much she hated pregnancies and childbirths. But there was no good contraceptive back then, except for abstinence. And she couldn't stop having the sex. ;)

Ashley Gonzalez yes but I believe she was so use to Victoria’s schedule that she kinda just did the same thing every morning. She probably thought they where like most arranged marriages and slept together once, right when they got back from the wedding, then that was that. But Victoria LOVED sex so they kept getting it on all night. They where both Virgins and I believe after the first round, Victoria wanted to try again, then she started to have some fun when it was not painful anymore. Next thing you know, they are still having sex in the morning, and her assistant would have never thought that. She probably thought Victoria had sex after the wedding because it was an arranged marriage and she did what she had to do. In reality , Victoria had sex with him for the first time, but they where both so young they kept doing it all night. Imagine being a 20 year old virgin and the chemistry they had! Most arranged marriages don’t end up well but they had an amazing chemistry so I’m sure after the first time they had sex, then a few minutes later, they did it again, and so on. Victoria got pregnant literally 9 months after her wedding. They had a crazy wedding night, as both of them were virgins. I think that is why they fell so deeply in love. Not just sex but the fact they had such amazing chemistry for each other.
