Interesting video. Incidentally they still occasionally find wood waterlines in Detroit when they’re doing repairs!

we have many specimens here in my area too. The German settlers here built them to last

I love the simplicity and lifestyle of the Victorian era but I’m also very tech centered given I’m an animator lol. I would like to dive more into it though.

It's simple to use now because of the lack of modern tech that we have, but it was probably anything but simple to the people who lived during the era.

same here. Start where you are - add small things. subtract small things. Your home life and work life can be separate spaces. At least that's my approach (I am in digital marketing)

Thank you! I had a thought for a future video... I'm currently reading Rudyard Kiplings The Phantom Rickshaw. I'm enjoying it, though I've come across so many terms and phrases from the era that unfamiliar. Some of which I can't find any information about on google. Perhaps for Halloween time 👻

Your discussion of papers and books prompts me to ask if you are familiar with the life of Isabella Beeton , author of 'Beeton's Book of Household Management', whose husband (and business partner) was a publisher and whose legacy far exceeded her very short life.

Actually, I wrote the introduction to an abridgement of that book which came out a few years ago, at the publisher's request. www.amazon.com/Mrs-Beetons-Book-Household-Management/dp/1510760253/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1P65VY8YVFFA5&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.R5APDEmpI-qcp21ChqLpt8V207VmeMdyPaakEMAKQkBaF6oTgwim0SuNt0sYB_wh.M7z-RSlEYlC0cB9wgYiP85GeOzRmAE2zt2g-mJkIDSI&dib_tag=se&keywords=Sarah+Chrisman+Mrs.+Beeton%27s+book+of+household+management&qid=1723119914&sprefix=sarah+chrisman+mrs.+beeton%27s+book+of+household+management%2Caps%2C124&sr=8-1
