Thank you Marjorie for showing these wonderful items. Ive seen photo's of my Great Grandmother in the 1920's wearing a home made satin drop waist dress and clearly still wearing her corset!! She was in her forties so I guess old habits die hard!

Thank you for making these videos! I am writing a novel that partly takes place in the Victorian era and this will greatly help me with my descriptions of the womens outfits!

I never knew at how much I dress like this. I have long skirts and dresses, and use petticoats. All I need is a corset! :3

The Japanese Gothic Aristocrats dress similar to Victorian and Rococo fashions. It's fabulous!

I loved the entire series. Very fascinating and enlightening. Today's woman sure doesn't have that kind of time to get dressed before going out the door to work. Although very elegant and lady like in design, these fashions are not practical for today's busy woman. Still, it would be nice to dress in this manner once in awhile just to remember what it was to be an actual "lady".

@CorneliaBui It's quite easy to sit dressed like that-- you've just got to steady the hoop skirt with your hands and hold it to the side. Though I'm no expert, I had to wear a full on Victorian outfit for a musical I was in. I was comfortable, but I cannot speak for everyone.

@CorneliaBui Corset and everything, yes. No, no-- No need to be sorry. Perhaps I am just strange. Also, you need to think that the woman back then would have wore some type of corset as young as four, so it is a gradual thinning of the waist... I did feel faint, but not uncomfortably so, only because it was my first time dressed in a corset. They, on the other hand, were very used to it to the point where, as the very kind guide said, they felt uncomfortable and unable to move without a corset.

@xXBugglezXx and how can we sit down then? It's so hard to sit in that kind of dress, and imagine when we had to tight our belly like that, I dont think I will be able to feel comfortable in that dress, even though the color and the style is so beautiful. No, Im happy that we can get out of that way of wearing our dress

@OfWebsAndChocolates did you wear a corset ? Even when you tighted it that hard, you still can feel comfortable ? Iam sorry, I have never wore any Victorian dresses, but seeing the way people wear it makes me think its so uncomfortable.

those bustle dresses are so beautiful. i'll take that over the princess skirt, not that we'd ever allow ourselves to be objected to a dress code again. and about the sluts-someone's accepting them, someone's desiring them; maybe they shouldn't be encouraged. (i'm talking about a style of dress and manner, not sexual freedom.)

No, I mean there is a subculture called Aristocrat, often called lolita's cousin. It;s more mature, and often doesn't have the cupcake skirt.
