Victorian Thrill Seekers Take a Sip of the Dead- St Leonard’s Chapel, Farleigh Hungerford Castle

St. Leonard’s Chapel at Farliegh Hungerford castle in England is the burial place for many generations of the Hungerford family. It is filled with incredible wall murals, effigies, and a crypt containing 8 eight anthropoid lead coffins. The chapel became a tourist attraction for thrill seekers in the 1800s when the 8 led coffins were found. Victorians began coming to the Castle in droves even drilling holes in the coffins and using straws to take a sip of the embalming fluid for a taste of the dead.

She has had the privilege of working with such famed directors as Oscar winner Maximilian Schell, Julie Taymor, Gian-Carlo Del Monaco, and Lotfi Mansuri during her tenure with Los Angeles Opera. Ms. Edwards made her professional singing debut at the age of 13, operatic debut at 19, and national television commercial debut at six months.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Music degree from UCLA and a Professional Studies Diploma from Mannes College of Music. She lives with her husband in the United Kingdom, where they share their passion and love for castles and photography together.e
