Love does not make up for improper care!! Totally agree with that - I feel like so many people think that if they love their pet enough it doesn't matter if its in the smallest cage being fed the worst diet 😥😥

My enclosure is 1069 sq in & everyone thinks I spend a fortune in upkeep too. Just replace only soiled bedding every month & re-use clean bedding. Two big bags of bedding is roughly $30 & it takes me like 5 months to use. I've even mixed cheap aspen & shredded recyclable paper into the bedding to bulk it up and make it last longer before. Large bag of sand for a whole year is like $5. Once you invest money in an enclosure & all the accessories, its super cheap to maintain.

I really have to agree with the first comment. Your videos are very calming and relaxing. I often rewatch your old videos for a dose of calmness. I don't know what it is that makes them relaxing but they just are. Maybe because you speak in a calm and collected manner unlike many KZbinrs who get really close to the camera and are basically shouting and over-stressing everything they say. Keep up the good work! Your videos are definitely not boring so don't give up! You've been on KZbin for over a decade and that means you are doing something right! You've been here so long that many people probably grew up watching your channel and you've made a whole generation aware of proper hamster care!!! You are doing a great job on here, your videos are showcasing top notch hamster care and its important work, there are a lot of hamsters that are getting the care they need because of you, and who would be suffering if you hadn't decided to speak up. my syrian hamster lived in the minimum cage and he was happy and all. it was a pet store cage with 5 inches of bedding, a perfect size wheel but if i have the means to spoil him i will! i pulled out my old guinea pig cage from the garage (those neglectful cages from pet stores that are way to small for guinea pigs) which was 1/3 larger for him and added alot of bedding, enrichment and more space for him! he is very anti-social but he tolerates being stroked and sometimes hand feeds but he mainly likes to stay in his cage. i got a big playpen for him but he got really anxious so now he only goes in there for cage cleanings. as much as he hates me i love him

I’ve been researching hamster care for 3 months. I’m 18, I’ve had guinea pigs in the past and I adored them! But they did not suit my lifestyle well, they were well taken care of and I had them and loved them until they passed away, and then I was researching other rodents that would better suit me, and hamsters are definitely better suited for my schedule as I work late and don’t go to bed till around 2 or 3am anyway. My me time starts around 9pm and goes until I fall asleep, I think a hamster will very much be good for me to keep me company in my late night hours. Thank you for informing me about so many things for my hammy! I officially get her on Thursday!! She will have a 75 gallon tank, and plenty of substrates and forage and sprays! I’ve been collecting hamster items for months now, so excited! Will continue to binge your channel for many weeks and months to come🧡🧡🧡

I agree! No one should be discouraging anyone over upgrading their hamster enclosure to something that even hits a halfway point between the above beyond category and entirely unsuitable, detrimental, neglectful, unsafe, etc. enclosures. The ultimate goal should be to educate and move the use of enclosures that are within the category of unsuitable, detrimental, neglectful, unsafe, etc. to hopefully nonexistent in the future. I personally would love to see all local pet stores disband the sell of those types of enclosures and start selling suitable enclosures made by really good manufactures like niteangel.

Your videos truly have a huge impact on how people view hamsters and hamster care. My family used to have hamsters (always one at a time obviously) ever since I was a kid. We had that ””huge”””” ””three story”” wire cage with like 4 cm of bedding and our hamsters would show the typical signs of stress; bar biting and monkeybarring. I’m just glad we took the hamsters out every day for many hours to play in our rooms, and that my mother taught us how to handle hamsters carefully and respect their privacy. About 5 years ago, I moved out of my parent’s houses and into my own apartment, and took a 60 cm bin cage with me. I thought I would get a hamster and just let it out a lot so it wouldn’t get bored. I thought I knew what was best for a hamster because i’ve always had them and they lived long lives. I decided to still do research and after just 20 minutes of watching videos, I realized how gravely wrong I was and had to throw all of my previous prenotions out of the window. I waited a year more and, as a broke ass student, and I mean BROKE (lived on 150€ a month for everything excluding rent), I saved up and got the proper things. A 130cm x 40 cm x 50 cm terrarium, a big wheel, a lot of proper beddings, different (1)

(2) substrates, hideouts, made some of my own stuff etc. The cage was so beautiful and full of enrichment. I got a female syrian hamster and named her Nietzsche :D, she was my baby, and I miss her dearly. I can proudly say even as a female hamster who was constantly looking for new things to do, she thrived, and got to wander around my hamster-proofed room for hours every day. Just seeing the huge difference between hamsters I co-owned with my parents as a child and my first very own hamster with proper care was LIFE CHANGING. I’m in the process of saving up and buying things for another hamster now, that over a year has passed since my lovely rally potatoe has passed away. Thank you for everything. Hamsters are wonderful, intelligent sentient beings and desserve to have proper care and habitat to live to their fullest potential. Like all of us :)

Thank you for your videos. I know my hamster care has improved because of you and others. I now have two Syrians and two Russian dwarfs. Keep up the great work!! Also, for those who need a better enclosure, Petco is doing their 50% sale on Aqueon glass tanks right now until July 4th. I recommend 75-gallons for Syrians and 40-gallons for dwarfs.

Your videos are amazing, Victoria. My partner and I have learned so much about hamster care and how to give the best life to our little hammy. And the vibes are just so relaxing! It's always a mood boost to see a new video in my feed.

I don't even own a hamster, or a rabbit, or a cat, (I keep fish) but I love your videos! Since most fish are small animals there's alot of people who don't see them as animals at all. It's people like you who teach people how to respect living things (even if they're small) by sharing knowledge and gently encouraging proper husbandry. Every time someone in your videos says "they're small so they don't need alot of space" my eyes roll so hard I get a migrane, people give the same excuse for keeping bettas in vases. Tysm ❤

I have been watching your channel for years. I came across it when you got Sadie as I’m a fellow cat lover. I’ve wanted a hamster for a couple years now, I waited till I was old enough to get a job. I got my first one yesterday. She is a dwarf robo. She is sleeping on her wheel rn which I’m a little concerned and confused but I wanna say thank you for encouraging me to get my little friend and teaching me proper care.

my little Bessie Ann got her heavenly wings this morning.... she had been sick for a while and was being treated, however i got home from work last night to her in a bad way. now shes out back with Kelly and Summer, eating all the strawberry bites and sunflower seeds to her hearts content. However, thanks to having watched your channel before i believe i gave her a very comfortable life. very large enclosure with many toys, hideouts, burrowing & tunneling space, and the best food money could order. Thank you, Victoria. this is just some way for me to get it out, i dont have many to talk to so it just feels good to tell her story. she was too good of a little girl to be forgotten. sleep easy Bessie, goodbye is never forever

For the comments on hamsters for everyone: a good thing to encourage would be donations to local animal shelters. If more people would "sponsor" hamster supplies (for shelters to give to new owners after an adoption), more people could afford hamsters and there would be a larger quantity of suitable cages in the 2nd market.

I love your videos I watch them all the time and they are so not boring. If I didn't come across your videos before i got my first hamster would probably be in a critter trail with shavings and yogurt drops for treats but she is in a homemade cage that is a litter over 450 sq in but I am going to upgrade eventually and my robo is in a bin cage and is very content and happy. Thank you so much!!!!!

Okay, the reason why I watch your videos is due to me buying a Syrian Hamster myself and I needed to look up a few things, but I couldn’t find anyone who educates me like you do! Your voice isn’t jarring and your completely correct with the bowls for cats ect. Your just actually good to watch and it doesn’t just seem like boring class you would go too because you tell us all about all the cool facts about animals and that proves you’ve got all the knowledge to learn from and wouldn’t argue with your techniques. P.S, sorry for how long it was 😅. Love ur vids, keep pushing to be the best!! ❤
