Victorinox Fieldmaster

The Fieldmaster is tops. It does it all. I’ve never seen the Victorinox multitool. I am going to look. I do have an early Gerber made in the USA that’s a fine one that has a permanent home in the Jeep. Good video sir.

well, I finally bought a SAK after not taking my Leatherman Wingman so I could fly without checking a bag due to a bit of an emergency flight south. I felt so naked and useless down here. So I bought a Victorinox Sportsman. What a great little urban tool! I still miss having scissors on my person, and a saw would be nice. So, I am looking at either a Fieldmaster, a Huntsman or a Ranger. The Ranger has a good looking assortment of tools, but the other two look more pocketable. Specially after carrying pocket clip for years now, I've been spoiled. Thanks for the video on this. Take care.

Just came across this video, and although am one of your subs, I also just acquired my first Field Master SAK. Have to agree with everything you said, up to this point I really liked my Huntsman as I liked having the saw and the scissors. Now with the Field Master I can trade the corkscrew for a Phillips, best of everything. It is odd you never see them in the store though as you said. I bought mine used off Ebay for $12.99 in like new condition. Keep up the good videos.

Another good video , I rode a 42 WLA Harley for a dozen years and picked up my first leatherman in alberquerque,lost it and replaced it ,I've had one on my hip for 25 years , as you point out you gotta pick the one with the tools that suit you , leathermans lost the plot now and I purchased a couple of spares of my model , you gotta have locking blades , now there all gimmicky and trick , it's funny just recently I was looking at exactly this model Swiss Army knife as I don't ride bikes anymore and even the horses will be gone soon , love your work

My friend you know a good thing when you see it and the fieldmaster is one of those things I've had about 80 swiss Army knives all at the same time and out of them all the fieldmaster has to be the best tool sat in my opinion the fieldmaster is a outstanding Swiss Army knife and this is the reason why I've got it in it's little Red victorinox case with me 247 because in my opinion and experience the fieldmaster is the best Swiss Army knife I would like to say thank you very much for sharing this post with us thank you my friend👍

I have the fieldmaster too! CANT BE BEAT!! I worked at warehouses, walmart and now subway while in school for HVAC and I find myself reaching for it for SOME reason every single day!!! I carry this and a gerber diesel multi tool every day and reach for my fieldmaster at least once a day. Gander mountain normally keeps the fieldmaster, I have seen them in all 3 stores I have visited and they run about 35 to 40 bucks but I buy mine on ebay new for around 25 with shipping and if I ever cannot decide what to get someone for birthday of xmas, I gift them one of these and they love me for it!

Hi love your videos.. I have the exact same tool set as ya good self.. can't beat the combo of these two. Like you I've tried the rest but i soon return to these which I've used daily since 1998-9 Thought you might be interested in another Swiss Army knife that augments these two and it's the victorinox pioneer harvester. No can opener but you have two already! It has a small pruner/hawkbill blade that is really handy and an inline awl like the swisstool which ok is a duplication but sometimes the size of the swisstool just can be too big for tight working. what I like about this tool is that there is no lanyard ring to get in the way. Have a look and see what you think, it's really comfortable in the hand to use and a bit more robust than the fieldmaster and weighs in at 3ozs with its thicker blades. It can never replace the fieldmaster but as I say it's a useful addition to the other two

Logcabinlooms, Good Video, I have always liked Swiss Army Knives. I have a very tough folding multi tool, that I have used in My Camper for several Years. I am not sure the brand name though. The blade I use most is the Can Opener, I think every Man should have some sort of multi tool Pocket Knife. They sure are handy. Good Video Sir.

I also carry a fieldmaster for the same reasons you mentioned. I have however recently been looking into the new alox farmerX I have the standard alox farmer and have carried it a lot but really missed having the scissors. I am able to do without the tweezers and toothpick as I have a victorinox classic on my keychain anyway. The only thing the farmerX doesn't have is the Philips head and it's $60 which has kept me from buying one. It doesnt have the small blade but they make up for it by making the main blade a little thicker in the spine and harder to break.

I carry a victorinox Spartan, a leatherman wave, and a Buck 110 as a good part of my edc. To round things out I carry an 1150 lumen flashlight and a mini first aid kit. Plus a small bit of duck tape and a handkerchief.

I have a Victorinox Swisstool Spirit X. Essentially the same thing as your blocky one, but for the urban gentleman. Doesn't have a ruler, which I kind of miss though. I prefer the plier head, has more of a pronounced needlenose, but not as much as my Wave.

I have a Leatherman REBAR because it has a tool set designed for doing basic electrical connection work. I bought a leather kit to make a belt holster and modified it while putting together to hold a small flashlight and a fire starter. I carry a Victorinox one handed trekker. It has a long blade that you can open with your thumb with the other hand busy. It has every tool you mentioned except the scissor.. The victorinox saw is very good. Compared to the Leatherman it is vastly superior.

You can't beat victorinox. If they cost double what they charge, I think most people would pay it.

I love the Fieldmaster, but I've seen far too many Victorinox multitools break under stress. It doesn't sound like you've used many Leatherman multitools. There's one for everybody. Some models come floppy, others come tight, some have stainless steel, some have carbon steel, and many of them do things no Victorinox multitool can do. There are models that are as strong as full-size tools, models where you can open every tool with one hand, models that are tiny, and models that are very large. And size for size, the Victorinox tools simply are not as well designed, and aren't as strong because of this. You can't beat a SAK. As a pocketknife multitool, they're great, as long as you don't buy one with fifty tools you'll never use, but as a full size multitool, they just aren't as good as a Leatherman.

James Ritchie Leatherman's QC has gone down alot in my experience. Plus a Swisstool blows any Leatherman out of the water anytime anywhere.

+mou I got a kick out of that comment myself, but that's how comments work, anybody can say any fool thing. Both my older brother, and I have carried the Victorinox multi-tools for many years and they have proven to be amazingly durable. My younger brother in the meantime has replaced several expensive Leathermen.
