I carry a red alox Pioneer X and it's my favorite SAK for edc. Here in the states the red alox Bantam, Pioneer X and Farmer X are a Knifecenter exclusive. The red alox is so much nicer than the silver in my opinion.

I really love the alox versions of the victorinox, one of the is the Farmer X (i never pick a victorinox without the scissors) but i still love carrying my huntsman wich has the most tools i use, yes, even the hook! When im carrying a big trashbag and the plastic ropes cuts in my finger hahaha, with the plus scales on it for the pen, glass screwdriver and a pin just in case its for me the perfect EDC knife for outdoor activities and all day activities

Blue is my favourite I've managed to order a pioneer and sd from knives and tools the sd will give me the scissors lacking on the pioneer I like to buy in pairs

I agree, the red scales do look a lot better than the silver ones. I agree about using the scissors instead of the blade in certain situations. Mind you, even the sight of an unopened knife can scare some people as I once found out. The press ( in particular, The Daily Fail and The Scum. You can probably guess who I'm referencing lol ) in the UK have a lot to answer for in my opinion. They love to peddle Fear Porn to their readers.

Just compared the weight of the Pioneer X and my Mountaineer. But from what I read the Pioneer X is 94,5 g and the Mountaineer is 109 g if I read correctly. So I definately consider buying the Pioneer X

I have no problem with the silver alox Pioneer X (I'm a proud owner of one) and I don't know anything about the process of manufacturing coloured alox scales but the way Victorinox just sells each colour as limited edition seems a bit gimmicky. At least a few should be available all the time. Especially the red one, it's been historically The Colour for SAKs so why not leave the option for it open in the relatively new alox line too (as a throwback). The nailnick on the scissors is where it is because (according to past comments others have written under SAK videos) this same type of scissors goes into the 111 mm SAKs and it makes the manufacturing process simpler. I for one got used to the nailnick position quite quickly.

On Victorinox, what does, “Alox?” Mean?

Alox is coined from two words: aluminium and inox ( = stainless steel). The alox knives are a category of Swiss Army knives that has aluminium scales instead of plastic (cellidor) ones. The aluminium scales are subjected to "anodic oxidation" which produces an additional protective layer (in the form of an oxide film) against damage and corrosion. Alox SAKs are more robust and durable than the ones with plastic handles. They're also slightly heavier.
