my dad have it by 20 year, got it from the italian army and fun fact, me and him never know what model is it, the time and the using of it cancel every marke and white sign on the knife, only after a lot of research i find it was the spartan model, great knife compact the right and best model to take with you everywhere :)

Got one from a friend. Main blade was broken off. We used to " SHARPEN" them on the curb. I remember when most models didn't come with a corkscrew. They came with the big Phillips instead. Seems like the corscrews are back in fashion. I own about 5 different models. All are Victorinox. Not one wenger.

You can get almost the same functionality from WAITER in a much compacted sleek size. Buying the spartan this days makes no sense. You end up with the COMPACT or with The HUNTSMAN ❤ or eventually something more in the 91mm size. About 2 layers only feature the compact offers seriously more functions than the spartan.

IMO the 3 must Victorinox to have are: 1 HUNTSMAN (scale plus hack) as EDC 2 OUTRIDER (old model sliding lock before 2017) when going in the wild 3 SWISSTOOL X PLUS RATCHET (always in car boot) to fix vehicles as emergency toolbox.

@@earthquakemagoon2505 Already have one, I have worn it out but it is still serviceable, before my two actual Huntsman. Once you get scissors you would not let go. Bulk in pocket it is almost there. Having saw and scissors together in the 91 package increase dramatically the actual functionality and productivity allowed from the tool. While you can do the same of a spartan with a waiter squeezing the carrying discomfort.

I have an imitation of a Victorinox Champ that I gifted myself, partially influenced by Mc Gyver. However, it didn't come with a hook and a pen, the awl is higher and my toothpick is already lost. It would be nice to have a spork, maybe. Slightly bulky but not huge, very sweet to have. It's with me during forest trips, so a straight edge and a serrated edge are a priority, I don't really use anything else (for now).

Great knife. Mine is a 90's one with the logo stamped on the main blade. I opened the small blade to compare - mine has had a hard life - it's about half as high as it was and is a flat edge now. I haven't had to sharpen it in years - the last time I nailed it😂Half a blade it took me to learn.

I like the Spartan, but I prefer the Super Tinker with the Phillips screwdriver instead of the corkscrew. Seems more practical overall. Can't go wrong with any SAK to be honest though.

Yes, Compact is better. There are scissors, pen, pin and combo tool. One combo tool opens bottles and cans. It is also screwdriver and wire striper. (Spartan's both bottle and can openers can become an one tool, like it is with Compact and Waiter models. Then Spartans will become better. )

My favourite discovery was, that the reamer (which I believe is meant for leatherworking) is absolutely perfect at making pilot holes in wood before you start drilling with a hand crank drill. Makes the job so much easier! Tho I gotta get the plastic replaced if possible, cracked a little...

I have a similar one, but mine doesn't have the toothpick and the other thing. And on mine there is a big 2 with a dot on one side, and instead of a victorinox logo it's like a shield with a + inside.

Almost perfect except its missing scissors. I have an old climber that has the same tools plus the scissors and is minus the hook. The perfect pocket knife in my opinion. Over the last 40 years it has travelled arround the world multiple times and been on every continent except Antarctica.

Not true. The company are considering knife less models as additions to the knife range, not as replacements. The rumour circulating came from a comment by Karl Eisner Jr to a journalist & it's been blown out of proportion. Eisner has reiterated that Victorinox is a knife company first & foremost & is staying a knife company.
