This video shames and inspires me. It shames me to think that I was so blind as to think the little hook on a SAK was the least useful tool of the bunch. It inspires me to make more of my life. This video demonstrates: imagination, dedication, courage, and attention to detail. Whoever signs your paycheck is getting a real bargain sir.

Nice! My favorite use of the hook was getting my fishing rig back when using heavy braided line. I was stuck on the bottom, and was gonna break my gear, or loose lots of $$$ line. Braid cuts through your hand like a light saber, so with that little SAK hook, I made a loop, hooked it through, started walking back slowly and pulled up about a 2ft hunk of oyster bed. Amazing. Got my rig back, and learned to switch to thinner wire hooks!

@nikgyver78 жыл бұрын
thanks..its normal to extennd to this angle...this back position gives a practical and durable grip..
@5-stringslinger1498 жыл бұрын
In fact...I think it's made to go back...If you notice, there's no lock-back spring bending the tool back to its original position. On the Climber/Super Tinker, you'll notice the Corkscrew/Philips head and the Awl, if pushed backwards, they spring forward, in their original position. You can use it as a stand to prob up the knife at 2 different angles. I think the possibilities are endless as As mr Doulas presented in this fun video!

The _"MacGyver Mindset"_ is a choice, but most people choose not to use it. It takes patience, to sit and think about how a tool or item can be used unconventionally. When put in a situation where you're limited by only certain items to use, the brain will almost force itself to come up with a new way to use that item to get the job done. Most people are usually too busy and not in the mood to be patient and think for a few minutes, so they just look for a way to get the job fixed by someone else. Usually seeing videos like Nikos' will inspire people to pause next time and think about how a simple tool can be used to create the solution to a problem. ☺️

Is there a load limit on the hook? Thinking of making a paracord carry for my spare tires (22kg each) so that I can drag them up the attic ladder with my SAK hook.
@nikgyver73 жыл бұрын
the static strength of the 550 paracord is 249 kg (550 pounds), so this is a good idea.Logically there is a limit but I do not know what it is,but i have a new test video about,thanks kzbin.info/www/bejne/bILGoZt4bc-sb5o

If you want a great SAK....Menards sells the Fieldmaster for 29.99 +tax.It is the same as the Huntsman ....but with a fold out phillups screwdriver instead of a corkscrew...where most other places ask 36-40 bucks.It too has the hook plus other great tools.We think its the best EDC.

many thanks Nikgyver, I learned a lot about my prefered tool. Until today I only used the hoook at 1% of its uses. thanks again and I suggest you to do it with other types of Victorinox knives.

I found a perfect new use for this hook! If you want to draw a compound bow safely to check draw length, it works amazingly well! You should always nock an arrow and do this outside, but there is ZERO risk of an accidental discharge outside of the d-loop breaking, or complete incompetence/catastrophic failure of a bow part.
@nikgyver76 жыл бұрын
sound that is a nice use, ideal

Silly man....the sewing machine has a (plastic horizontal) spool holder at the back with a spool cap (to stop thread spool from coming out of it). That thing you put the Swiss army knife on is actually a bobbin winder! But thanks for the video, very compressive even if that was kind of silly. :)
@nikgyver78 жыл бұрын
the back spool holder is to empty the spool thread for sewing...this spool holder in my machine sewing working..the other spool holder up to machine is to fill the spool of thread,this spool holder broken.i replaced this spool holder with my sak..
@nikgyver78 жыл бұрын
its not the same in mine..the fill spool thread holder is a removable plastic ''stick''...the small spool like this in your video you fill it under the needle in my machine..
@SuperModerngranny8 жыл бұрын
Dear dear.....you can remove the top cover of the sewing machine and see for yourself how the bobbin winder works. There is a rubber under the top cover connected to that metal bobbin pin. When you push the metal piece to the right, the rubber ring touches the balance wheel. So when you step on the foot pedal, the balance wheel works the metal bobbin pin to wind the bobbin. Please....I have more than 35 sewing machines, vintage and new. I service and repair them all. This is how it works .
@nikgyver78 жыл бұрын
this is to fill the small spool.the big one to fill it you put it in a plastic stick holder in my machine..this plastic holder it broke and i replaced with the sak..

Love my SAK's! And many seem to knock this particular tool. I've always liked the hook feature. Great handle for several things. I think you covered everything aside from McGuyver! And you even used it for its "intended" purpose...carrying that parcel-type box. Doesn't it hold up to 200 pounds? Awesome video!

Great video my friend! On a side note most (not all) of the task done with the hook could have been done easier with pliers, for example a leatherman. The fishing tasks are an eye opener of the value of this hook. Liked and added this to my favorites and subscribed :)
@nikgyver76 жыл бұрын
yes it will be more easier with a pliers but some of these can't do it the pliers.also i dont carry a multitool with me because is so big and illegal in my country because all these has locking blades.thank you.
@dukeraul22466 жыл бұрын
understood, there are many Leatherman without locking blade and almost all have pliers. Your imagination and visualization on how this hook can, could, and operates is in a different level . keep the videos coming.

These kind of locks is common on doors inside of houses in Norway but not on the front door. You will some time see them on sheds outside that store gardening equipment , general storage and wood for the stove. Here is a link to a picture: www.pikguru.com/media/1642797799200216586_1475944865

I have a clip with 60cm string (meant to hold on security cards etc.) on my jeans. That hook allows me to clip my sak in the loop-fish it out of my pocket quickly, and use it in many tasks. An it's very easy to take it off, if I need to reach further None lost so far

i cant get the hook open from my super tinker no how unless I use another tool to get a grip on it. it has no nail slot and the key ring is in the way for my to grab ahold of the tip. i do not have much finger nail so is that the problem? not that I would use this tool much but if I ever do, I need another object to pry it open..
@nikgyver78 жыл бұрын
i think you don't need big nail to open it,any way use the tweezers for pry-tool.
@germanshepherd138 жыл бұрын
Tweezers not even sturdy enough to get it open so tight. Must have gotten a bad one. The darn key ring in way.
@nikgyver78 жыл бұрын
turn the tweezers on the side(it's not flexible in this side) and grab it close to the tip..it works i tryed it.
