i honestly don’t believe that everyone in victorious is really ok mentally tori: she obviously had to take care of trina even though she was younger than her because her parents were both neglectful and are shown to actually hate trina. this had to take atoll on tori in some way or another because she was basically put in the roll of a caretaker from a young age. and dont forget that tori and trinas mom regularly cheats on their dad. trina: her parents are shown to hate her and try to avoid her in every possible way on multiple occasions. she takes on the persona as someone who is narcissistic and rude because she wants all the attention (and her parents love) to herself. they are also shown the praise tori way more then her.and dont forget that tori and trinas mom regularl cheats on their dad. jade: she is shown to not respect most authoritative figures in her life such as her dad and her mom. we see this on the slap when she states that she got her nose piercing about 45 minutes (i think) after her mom said that she wasn’t aloud to get her face pierced. i also think it’s sort of hinted at that her parents fight so she thinks that’s a normal way for relationships to be so that’s the ways she treats beck. robbie: he is seen to be attached to a puppet who belittles every chance he gets and i think some people forget that rex is a puppet. he’s controlled by robbie so rex saying all these things to him can be seen as robbie himself projecting his thoughts into the puppet. rex is seen to be crude and often make remarks about a girls which can be seen as robbies true thoughts about the people around him. he also goes as far to make his friends to take rex to a hospital when rex “dies”. cat: cats family life is obviously not the best. you can see this by how she talks about her brother. she says that hinge like how her brother got shot by a clown, was stabbed in japan, and had to go to a hospital where he was tied down. when she says “i’m under my bed, i’m under my bed, i’m under my bed” it can be seen as a coping mechanism for when she gets to stressed out or scared. she maybe hides under her bed when her parents and brother are fighting so under her bed is her “happy place”. her brother also had hit her in the head with a vase when she came home late because he thought she was an intruder and she liked the color of the blood stain so much she decided to dye her hair. she like trina takes on a persona but for her it’s a more childlike one. jade probably understand what she’s going through so she has things like coloring books and snacks for her. and let’s not forget the episode where rex “dies” and she was emitted into a mental institute. andre: his grandma is seen to be crazy a lot on the show and he mentions in an episode that she wasn’t always crazy. so seeing your grandma slowly turn crazy can’t be good on your mental health. let’s not forget that he loves with her so while she was going insane he had to be with her every step of the way. he had to take care of her instead of her taking care of him. and he’s only about 16/17 so her turning insane must of had to happen when he was much younger. him having to watch that happen before him must of taken atoll on his own metal health. beck: i fell like beck fights with his parents or that they have very strict rules because he decided to live in an rv so he didn’t have to listen to them say “your under my roof so you have to go by my rules”. i just have a hunch that his parents might be very strict with could have caused some mental issues. sinjin: sinjin could very well just be seen as a weird kid and from what i remember we dont get a good look at his personal life so its hard for me to make assumtions on his home life like i did with the other characters but if you examine his behavior he could have something like autism. lets start with the autism theory some signs/symptoms of autism are abnormal tone of voice, inappropriate social interactions, and hyperfixations on stuff. sinjin has a pretty monotone and sort of serious voice but that could all be explained with the actor. he is shown to not be very good at keeping conversations and making people weirded out by the topics he talks about. while he might not hyperfixate he really only is seen to do the tech aspects of productions. so while it might not be autism it is a theory sorry if this was bad or offensive i’m not the best at explaining things let me know what you think and tell me if i missed anything and if you have any theories feel free to share them

Ali Joyce yeah I saw a video where that was one of the theories, I don’t remember exactly why but it has something to do with her brother and the way he is. I don’t think she is manic depressive, we never see her severely low moods throughout the show unless she’s upset about something like a guy breaking up with her which happens pretty instantaneously. If she were this kind of bipolar then she would have entered either state of mania or depression over the course of days or weeks and we never really see her depressed for more than a few hours. Also I don’t think her parents would really make sure she’s taking meds or really going to a therapist regularly like she should. Her parents don’t seem to care about her at all or actually take care of her which also might be a reason for the way she is. Maybe she wants to get the attention and affection that she doesn’t get at home and so she acts very child like. When you actually think about the show it’s really dark. Tori and Trina’s parents are kinda neglectful and the mom is probably having an affair with her husbands cop friend. Jade has a lot of anger and a very cold father who she isn’t close with and she’s in a very toxic relationship with beck, who seems mostly normal and stable. Andre has a crazy grandmother and it seems like he takes a lot of care of her. Robbie and Rex are honestly another psychological analysis video.

Here are some things to prove that Cat is emotionally damaged: The thing that inspired her red hair (it's obviously not naturally red), was blood from when her brother smashed glass on her head and she liked the color. Whenever Cat talks about her brother, Jade always gives her something else as a distraction. Like a coloring book, cereal, keys, anything. How when Beck and Jade were fighting, Cat covered her ears and yelled, "I'm under my bed!" maybe that meant she had to hide from her brother once or multiple times

Theory: The part when she says “I’m under my bed” makes me think there is something really messed up going on in her house. Maybe all the stress comes from her brother being messed up in the head, but we will never really know. I think things are so bad at her parents home so she has to move in with her grandma in “Sam and Cat”. Her life is sadder if you think of it. She’s always the life of the party, the happy one in the friend group. And I truly believe that because she feels more safe with her friends in a way. But that’s my theory.

One thing that really bothered me about Cat’s character trajectory was how her musical talent was gradually de-emphasized to the point that it was completely forgotten in Sam and Cat. Not once during the entire run of the show do we hear the singing voice that we all know and love. In addition, there is no more than a passing reference to Hollywood Arts (other than one or two episodes where some of characters are reprised). Are we to assume that she went off the deep end so badly as to have forgotten her vocal chops? The rare instances of singing we do see are sketches in which the characters all sing off key. Very strange regression.

I'm all for taking characters out of their comfort zone in spin-offs, cause if a spin off keeps calling back to its brother series, then what's the point of the spin off? But at the same time, her music was such a big part of her character. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if they actually did something different with her, but yeah...not much was done.

Jayniac Jr. yeah I see what you mean about spin offs. As far as they go, my favorite was Frazier because it still maintained key attributes of Dr Frazier Crane while introducing new and compelling characters and storylines. Sam and Cat strikes me as a rush job hastily assembled because Nick fully expected there to be a fourth season of Victorious. I agree that it is a delicate balance between having a new show and maintaining characters from the host show.

I have three theories about Cat. 1. Age regression, she acts like a child as a coping mechanism/to make up the childhood she most likely missed out on. I assume she missed out on a childhood because her parents were so preoccupied with her disturbed brother and didn't really have time to parent their "normal" (friends, good grades, amazing school, many talents, etc.) child. 2. This is similar to 1 but not 100% the same. She makes sure to study and get good grades and have a bunch of talents and hobbies to get attention from her parents (who are neglecting her due to a lot of energy being put into the care of her brother). When her parents still didn't notice her as much as she would like, she started acting similar to her brother in an attempt to get her parents to notice her. 3. In two separate "The Slap" videos she said she dyed her hair to make it the same color as her fav food (Red Velvet cupcakes) and that one time when she got home her brother smacked her with a vase and the blood stained her hair and she kinds liked it, so she dyed all of it red. A hit that was hard enough to draw blood might have caused brain damage. I know that the creator made Cat's character for laughs, but I love diving deep into characters mentality.

Casey sparkle Depending on where you live and what opportunities you have, it probably could be checked... I live in Norway (meaning good public systems), and I could have mentioned something like this to my doctor, and get a test. This is, however, probably more difficult in for example the US (it’s not my intention to offend anyone, but your system seems iffy to a lot of Norwegians). Still... brain damage can cause long-time effects, such as you developing problems with learning or regulating different things (depending on where the blow hit). Some people also develop other problems... but hun, if you function all-right and you feel like you can get through your everyday life... then it’s probably okay. Long-term damage should have been showing by now, and a lot of people have gotten injuries that looks horrible, but that ends up being all okay. There’s also a difference between punctured skin and damage to the skull or the brain. A belt can hurt a lot, and can do a lot of damage... but how it hit (distance and angle) combined with the place and which part of the belt it was can also affect thing. I would suggest talking to a doctor if you feel like something is wrong. Are you okay?

Yes, she was a spoiled teenage asian heiress who has deep emotional/psychological wounds from the absence of her father, Mr. Tipton. She has more of a “father figure” relationship with Mr. Moseby than her father. i’ve always found robbie and cat’s relationship odd. i feel like he possibly could have harassed/ assaulted her because he was taking advantage of her naivety. first, in one episode, he mentions that they could play “pirates” together, and cat says “no, i don’t like the way you play pirates”. 2. in another episode, cat was upset about something and jade looks to robbie and says “did you play pirates with her again?” in an angry tone. 3. in the episode where she got a butterfly stuck in her ear, robbie walks in and says to cat “look, i have something for you” and cat responds by covering her eyes with her hands and yelling “no, i don’t want to see that thing again, put it away”, to which robbie says “no not that”. i interpreted this as him possibly showing her his penis without her consent, and since she was laying down on the couch when he walked in, she couldn’t see what he had when he told her to look his way, so she assumed it was his penis again, which is why she was so scared/anxious when saying it. 4. cat often feels scared to kiss robbie and be in a relationship with him, but also feels jealous of the girl he took to the dance when cat rejected him. also, at that dance, she asked robbie to stay with her after she got injured. this is a sign of a possibly abusive relationship. you hate the person for the bad things they’ve done to you, but because you’re in love with them, you still show that love. 5. robbie literally has cardboard cut outs of cat. i may be reading too much into this, but something weird is going on.

There's something I thought about now, you forgot to talk about Cat's Nonna (for those who haven't watched Sam and Cat, Nonna used to live with Cat, dunno why or when, in a kind of apartment before Sam got there, probably because of her parents and mostly brother's abuse). She is (kind of) the most normal person in Cat's family, she cooks, she used to babysit, she probably used to do the cleaning with Cat, watched tv and went out to eat in restaurants with Cat in her free times, she is a normal person. i always actually assumed cat was bipolar and i thought that was her whole storyline? i never knew that her mental state was a “conspiracy”. i grew up around 3 different bipolar people , my mom being one , and i noticed a lot of Cat’s bipolar tendencies when i was a kid. i guess looking back now i thought everyone just knew what bipolar was and that’s why i always thought cat was just a bipolar teenage girl who had already been diagnosed 😂😂

i discovered this because i’m only getting victorious stuff on youtube but i really don’t regret watching this. i love theory and analysis videos. theory: i think the ladybug on her locker represents her (because of her red hair) and the grass is her family and her ‘problems’. she’s trying to break free to the pink which represents her friends and the stuff she likes (because pink is her favorite color). and also the fact that she dyed her hair red because she liked the color of the blood stain her brother made with that vase really scares me and doesn’t seem like something cat valentine would do. i mean she is kinda ‘crazy’ but not that level. i personally think someone forced her to dye her hair so nobody would question it or because they never wanted someone to find out.

I feel like cat may have borderline personality disorder, the intense mood swings that happen throughout the day (unlike bipolar that lasts days weeks or months before changing), the reckless spending, thinking people are being mean behind her back (asking what’s that supposed to mean) and maybe uses age regression to cope and Jade knows she’s an age regresser so keeps colouring books and stuff with her for cat, and maybe she has ptsd from her brother physically hurting her when they were little

i feel like Cat isn’t bipolar. though she does seem all happy and peppy, which could look like a mania episode, bipolar includes major depression and she never seems depressed. i think Robbie just used it as an adjective (which we shouldn’t do). i feel like she has some kind of trauma from being neglected and possibly other things which caused her to not develop quite like everyone else and is why she acts very child like and doesn’t know much right from wrong all that much.
