How does it compare to a tone king royalist? Andertons only compared jtm45 settings of both and did not switch the voicings

Curious to know about the effects loop and whether it will wreck your signal if you're playing with any gain. That's the big knock on the 20-watt Marshall heads, that the effects loop is really weak.

Hey Buddy....Are you using the Ox Box for this demo? If so, would love to know how you set that thing up to get such a great sound. Also, have you tried out the new BadCat Amps? Just bought The Cub and it is awesome! I also own a Victory V30 Countess and the Deputy seems to have some of those same sound characteristics but I would definitely recommend you try out either the BadCat Cub or BlackCat before making a new amp decision...

Does the Master Volume allow to get a good sound at home use ? Or overkill ? They promote that MV for bedroom use, but 25w without at least a 7w switch option seems really hard to evaluate for that kind of use from the test here. Maybe might as well go for the Marshall 2525c combo, since this seems to be somekind of the same circuit, in a way ? Édit : I wrote the comment before watching the part with the Stratocaster.. awesome playing man! And that modulated reverb .. Wow.. just Wow I'm on the fence between this and Tone King Falcon Grande. One of the two in a very close race. How would you compare these two ? The Tone King would be a little more conveniant for the portability, but the sound.. That Deputy just blew my ears with the Stratocaster..

Hahaha thank you!!! Ya man I saved the strat part till the end my goodness is it so damn good with single coils. And yes absolutely, the master volume is brilliant for home use. And you can have the gain waaaaay up if you wish, and the master down, it’ll be Roudy but as quiet as you wish it to be

They seem very close. Search a little on KZbin, a guy compares 3 or 4 off the Victory heads. Off all of them, I found the Duchess almost identical sounding, except for the Reverb and Wattage, they're pretty close to me

I’d have to agree with the comment above, the deputy does have a bit more bite than the duchess. The duchess can indeed be pushed, but the break up never gets to the gain territory of the deputy. That is however, not AT ALL WHAT YOU ASKED. 😂 The clean channel of the deputy can be more compared to the sheriff in my opinion

I’ve had my eye on The Duchess/DP40 for years now, but just recently had been looking at it more seriously… naturally, that’s when they release The Deputy 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t have a Victory dealer near me, so I haven’t had the opportunity to play either of them. Can anyone tell me how they are compare to one another?

Hi! I was having the same problem and ended up buying both. So the duchess (I have the v140) is all about headroom. That beautiful huge clean sound, sure it can get broken up a little but that’s not really its focus, whereas the deputy is more about the in your face punchy tone that will break up. The DP40 is extremely similar to the duchess tonally, with just a differently tweaked reverb. Hope that helps!

Light amp is like tiny box Fuzz. It can be cool, but we know bug box fuzzes sounds better and heavy amps plays better. 😅 But cool sounding amp it seems to be.

With all due respect, I do think that, for the prize, the new Marshall Studio JTM45 it's a better option in this category ( at least for me ) However, it sounds SO, SO GOOD.

The ST20H is 1000€ whereas this is about 1800€ so not quite double. You'll have to factor in though that this amp gives you basically a ST20H + a SV20H in one. Plus a far more usable gain range. And reverb. That said, if you want the pure Marshall thing, then you can save some money by buying Marshall of course :)

Is anyone bothered that the output/power tubes/valves are the EL86 -- which haven't been manufactured for decades? (40 or 50 years: no-one is quite sure.) Yes, I know that there are plenty of them around, and they are better manufactured than anything made today, but that's not the point. Yes, I know that the amplifier can be re-biased for the EL84, but that's not the point either.
