Thanks for another great video! All the upgrades I've done and I skipped this because I didn't want to mess with the throttle cables. Thanks for presenting this so clearly and concisely... as you always do. Yorur video gives me the confidence to tackle this little job.

Thanks for the video, found it helpful and informative. Took me about 1/2 an hour to do mine, including adjusting the throttle cables, without removing or lifting the seat. It was snug, but doable, even for my fat fingers....

Paul, thank you so much for your vid, i have just installed this on my 2014 Victory Judge. As an absolute mechanical novice, your vid was invaluable. i had to lift the rear of the fuel tank on the Judge to get enough access to the throttle body, but this was no big deal. i am amazed by the difference in engine response, simply by installing such a cheap upgrade. thanks again for the vid.

You didn't show the removal of the two screws that connect the throttle housing to the cruise control mount. If you don't remove them, the throttle housing body lower half will not drop down to release the throttle twist grip. When I did mine, I had to shorten the plastic curved cable guides as they contacted the 1/4 turn ring for some reason. It might have to do with the fact that i have the metal chrome housings.
@PaulPomerleau7 жыл бұрын
I did show to remove the cruise module from the throttle housing. It's at the 20 second mark into the video.
@oh8wingman7 жыл бұрын
But what about the other two that hold the mount for the cruise control to the throttle housing? You didn't show or mention that and you have to remove them. If you don't, you cannot get the throttle twist gr4ip out of the housing unless you have enough slack to slide the entire throttle off the end of the bars. At 4:12 when you remove the throttle twist grip is shows that you have removed these two additional screws.
@PaulPomerleau7 жыл бұрын
Maybe yours is different than mine. The 2 bolts that I remove at the 20 second mark in the video removes the metal arm that holds the cruise control panel to the throttle housing. now the panel and arm/bracket just hang down by the cable. This now gives access to 2 screws that separate the top section from the bottom section of the housing. There is also a small 3rd screw underneath that holds the lower half to the handlebars, and I mentioned in the video that you can either remove it or not because you can still install the ring either way. Anyway, that is the way it is on my bike, maybe yours is different.
@oh8wingman7 жыл бұрын
No, the mount is identical. There are two screws to remove the cruise control mount from the arm, two screws that hold the arm to the throttle body, and two screws of different lengthsd that hold the throttle body halves togethe. The arm mount has a 1" hole in it which goes over the handle bar. It ties to the throttle body. If you do not remove the two screws that hold it to the throttle body the lower part of the throttle body will not drop away and the throttle twist grip cannot be removed.

Ahh, I see what you are saying now. My fault for not understanding what you were saying, and you know, I don't remember taking those screws off, but I guess I did because I just went out and checked and they are still there so I must have removed them. I am sorry for all the confusion and you are right, Thanks for pointing it out. I hope we can laugh about this :)

I have never greased my throttle cables.

Why a throttle ring? Is it just the length of the rotation?
@PaulPomerleau3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it makes it a shorter rotation. I found I always had to adjust my grip to twist it more, especially while trying to merge on a highway. It is much better now.

I need your help my throttle cable is scraping on a plate ... just saw this when I changed my grips. Please help thank you
@billzster2 жыл бұрын
Which plate? I just did mine- removed the tank and the cable on the throttle body....what a nightmare! Then the cables heading into the controls shifted out and I had to redo them....twice. Granted I have Avon grips and had to trim a little bit off it to get the ring on. It was nearly impossible to get enough slack to get them on. Took it for a ride and it's amazing, those adjusters up by the controls aren't budging though- hopefully I don't need to adjust them anytime soon!

Found the problem nothing to do with throttle cable play. It was the throttle sensor connector. Give us the update on how you like the 1/4 t ring. Thinking of doing this mod. Thanks again

Paul- off subject. do you have a video that shows the removal or installation of the lowers in the xct? I have taken them off with no issue but can't seem to line it up right to put them back on. Was wondering if you had any insight to this. Any assistance is most appreciated. Cheers.
@PaulPomerleau9 жыл бұрын
+Big Meanie The only video I have of removing the lowers is on my Circuit Breaker install video found here, kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpDHoqmVm8yjj7c It is around the 1:30 minute mark into the video. Lining up the 3 rings can be a challenge, it is also advisable to put some rubber tape around the bars so they don't slip in the future. Put the clamps on loose first, then before tightening, take the entire lower and move it as far away from the bike as possible, because if it is too close the wind deflectors on the fairing will hit the lowers while you ride, so make sure you turn your bars completely left and right to ensure they don't hit before tightening.

Paul let me know if your cruise control is still working, I just changed my bars and grips and now it doesn't work. Didn't get the chance to trouble shoot it yet, but I think when ever missing with the cables sometime people been having problems with there cruise control. How's about doing g a video how to adjust throttle cable.
@PaulPomerleau10 жыл бұрын
Might be another 3-4 weeks before I can get my bike out. Still freezing and snow over here. The only thing we did with the cruise is remove the jacket of the cable from the plate at the throttle body, can't see how that would prevent it from working. I will check it out first chance I get. Did you move both throttle cables? They should be adjusted equally. Perhaps the cruise is functioning but the cable is too loose to do anything. Do you have your 2-4mm of free play?

Whats the ring for?? I have no return on my cross country.
@PaulPomerleau4 жыл бұрын
The ring adds a larger circumference to the throttle so you don't have to twist it so much. I found when stock, I had to readjust my grip to go faster when I was merging on the highways and such. Could your no return be caused by the end cap being too tight against the grip? This happens especially if the grip heaters are on and they expand, or if you changed/adjusted the end caps.
@808xcountry510 жыл бұрын
Got it working, throttle sensor connector loose. So how far out did you have to back out your throttle cables? @ the end of your video I know you mentioned it, Is both top and bottom cables backed out all the way?
@PaulPomerleau10 жыл бұрын
Yes, both the top and bottom throttle cables were backed out. I kept moving them the same amount until I got my 2-4mm of free play, they should both be about the same distance from the plate.. They were both moved quite a bit, but still have some left.
