8:20 soldiers are marching past the stands with war veterans and the president of Russia, so their eyes are fixed on the stands, and the extreme row looks straight, so that the rest could keep the formation and move focusing on the extreme soldiers. They march beautifully, don't they? More than 27 million people died in the USSR during the 4 years of the war. 2 brothers of my grandmothers did not return from the war alive, my grandfather at the age of 17 volunteered for the war in 1941, was wounded, captured, then released in 1943 by Soviet troops. Every Soviet family has relatives who suffered from this war! We all remember and honor our heroic ancestors who liberated the world from fascists!

Good afternoon! My grandfather (my mother's father) is a Don Cossack, during the war he was a lieutenant. He has a medal "For the Defense of Moscow". Lost a leg. Another grandfather (my dad's dad) is a descendant of Belarusian nobles, was a partisan in the war. His entire family (father, mother and nine younger brothers and sisters) were burned alive by the Germans in a wooden house. After the war, he married a girl (my grandmother) who was a concentration camp prisoner (she got into a concentration camp at the age of 15). Until her death (died in 1993) she screamed in her sleep. I was born on the land of the Don Cossacks in the city of Novocherkassk. Not far from our city, the Germans buried alive the inhabitants of a small village, in which only the elderly, women and children remained, because all the men had gone to the front. They say the ground was moving for several days, people were trying to get out of the ground, so the Germans put machine gunners on top. Watch the movie "Go and See", it will help you understand that war a little.

@ВладимирМацкевич-з6б

8:04 the people looking straight are called the "Right-hand markers". - In the military, a right hand marker is a soldier who is designated as the reference point for a formation or group of soldiers. This can include being the point of reference for marching, aligning the formation, or marking the position for other soldiers to follow. The term "right hand" refers to the fact that this soldier is typically positioned on the right side of the formation, and their role is to ensure that the formation is aligned and in the correct position.

"Den' Pobedy" ranks among the most popular in the large corpus of Russian songs devoted to the Second World War. The song refers to the Victory Day (9 May) celebration and differs from most of these by its cheerful intonations of a marching song and by the fact that it was composed some thirty years after the war. In the words of Vladimir Shainsky, a veteran composer, "the song seemed to have turned back the time. Although written three decades after the war, it now seems that it was this song that helped us to gain the victory" Den Pobedy Song by David Fyodorovich Tukhmanov and Vladimir Gavrilovich Kharitonov Text День Победы, как он был от нас далёк Как в костре потухшем таял уголёк Были версты, обгорелые, в пыли Этот день мы приближали как могли Этот День Победы Порохом пропах Это праздник С сединою на висках Это радость Со слезами на глазах День Победы День Победы День Победы Дни и ночи у мартеновских печей Не смыкала наша Родина очей Дни и ночи битву трудную вели Этот день мы приближали как могли Этот День Победы Порохом пропах Это праздник С сединою на висках Это радость Со слезами на глазах День Победы День Победы День Победы Здравствуй, мама, возвратились мы не все Босиком бы пробежаться по росе Пол-Европы, прошагали пол-Земли Этот день мы приближали как могли Этот День Победы Порохом пропах Это праздник С сединою на висках Это радость Со слезами на глазах День Победы День Победы День Победы Этот День Победы Порохом пропах Это праздник С сединою на висках Это радость Со слезами на глазах День Победы День Победы День Победы Quelle: Musixmatch Songwriter: давид тухманов / владимир харитонов in English Den Pobedy the text of the song Victory Day, how far away it was from us Like a charcoal melted in an extinguished fire Charred miles lay in the dust We made that day as close as possible That Victory Day smell of gunpowder This is a public holiday With gray hair at the temples It's joy With tears in the eyes day of the victory day of the victory day of the victory Days and nights at open ovens Our homeland has not closed its eyes Days and nights they fought a hard battle We made that day as close as possible That Victory Day smell of gunpowder This is a public holiday With gray hair at the temples It's joy With tears in the eyes day of the victory day of the victory day of the victory Hello mom, we are not all back yet Walk barefoot through the dew Half Europe, went half around the world We made that day as close as possible That Victory Day smell of gunpowder This is a public holiday With gray hair at the temples It's joy With tears in the eyes day of the victory day of the victory day of the victory That Victory Day smell of gunpowder This is a public holiday With gray hair at the temples It's joy With tears in the eyes day of the victory day of the victory day of the victory source Songwriters: David Tukhmanov / Vladimir Kharitonov

It's not too inaccurate. That style of synchronized marching and "showing off" is typical for authoritarian states and dictatorships. Nazi Germany wasn't first but in the current day it's countries like Russia, NK and China who still parade that way. Countries somewhat obsessed with their image and appearance of strength. Also, as much credit as the USSR deserves for defeating the Nazis and the massive sacrifice of life required to do so, the USSR and the red army were not good guys in WW2 either. Both the Nazis and the communists were evil, however you define evil. Both invaded other countries to expand their territory and murdered, imprisoned, deported and oppressed the peoples living in those countries. Many in my family were killed by Soviet invaders, their homes stolen and destroyed and their ancestral land never returned. Yet we see the perpetrators of such injustices celebrate themselves as heroes every year. That can also make one feel quite sad. In an ideal world, both the Nazi regime and the Soviet one would have been crushed.

The leaders of the countries understood the importance of propaganda. Films were the best way to convey their idea to the masses. The second task of the Soviet front-line cameramen was to record the atrocities of the Nazis who did not have time to hide the traces of their crimes against civilians. These shots are terrible and cause me great anger and hatred towards the Nazis. All video materials are stored in state archives and are now available in digital form. We know today that there were 314 Soviet cameramen in total. One in five died. In the first days of the war, there was still no structure for organizing special front-line groups, but already on the fifth day in the newsreel magazine there were the first stories filmed by cameramen who happened to be in the combat area. Three weeks later, 16 film groups, numbering more than 90 cameramen, were working on the most important sectors of the front - the very first to go were experienced cameramen who had already filmed hostilities, as volunteers - 22 graduates of the camera department of Film Directing. Under the Main Political Directorate of the Red Army, a front department was created, at the Political Directorate of the Fronts, so-called groups were created, headed by the heads of the front groups - in most cases, directors or cameramen. Filming was carried out not only at the fronts, but also in partisan detachments - not only located on the territory of the country, the groups were transferred across the front line to other countries. For the operators who worked at the front, they had to practically learn the possession of weapons, and each of them was given some kind of rank, each put on shoulder straps and a tunic. And in order to be a military man, you need to be able to wield weapons. And there were many cases when the operator had to put down the camera and take up arms. The operator was not an outside observer. So, for example, transferred to the aviation unit near Poltava, S. Shkolnikov filmed the front line from the Il-2 aircraft. On this machine, he could only sit in the cockpit of the gunner-radio operator, covered with plexiglass. When the fascist plane approached the tail, they had to shoot from a machine gun. Cameraman Boris Sherkov in a similar situation shot down an attacking fascist Focke-Wulf 190 aircraft. Monuments to front-line documentary filmmakers have been erected in at least 4 Russian cities. Their work is invaluable to us. Yes, that's right, visiting Moscow on May 9 is the best thing. Impressions will last a lifetime from the solemnity and emotions. Drill training exists in every army. This is where every new recruit starts. This is, so to speak, a symbol of the army - obedience to commands, and coherence of actions in a group - this is brought to automatism by many hours of exercises (sometimes as a punishment). Execution of commands subconsciously accustoms to discipline. There is no place for democracy in the army - only 110% execution of orders. Turning the head towards the object is a salute in the ranks (when a person is in the ranks - the hand is not applied to the temple - only the head is turned). The first row does not turn its head - it sets the direction of movement for the entire human box. In this video, many are dressed in military uniforms corresponding to that era 1941-1945. And carry the weapons of those years. As a tribute to memory and theatrical action. Russian Cossack forms are also visible (roots in Caucasian traditions)

Soldiers on the right flank are looking forward to keep the marching line straight while the rest are looking to the tribunes to salute and present honor. If the tribune is on the other side, then everything mirrors - the soldiers on the left flank are looking forward and the others salute and present honor looking to their left. The uniforms usually relate to a specific weapon of that specific brigade (infantry, tank, navy, airforce, etc.). For you to currently live in peace, twenty million Russians gave their lives in the second world war … and leaders of some countries (including and maybe especially the one you’re living in) want to cancel and undo that now - that is the reason why conflicts are popping all over the world.

Some of my relatives didn`t come back. Some did, I know about 2 of them. My grandmother`s father was one of them. That was a miracle. They lived under Germans in Rostov for a year and smthng, she was born after her father left for army and when they were in occupation. My other grandmother was evacuated from Odessa to Tashkent in 1941 in age of 4. Thanks god her mother stopped to fight and did that. Check the map. They were Jewish, no way to survive. You reacted to the song ЖИТЬ / to LIVE, at 9:57 of your video is the "Immortal Brigade (or Regiment)". People are carrying plates with photos or names of their relatives fallen in this war or returned form it. It is happening each year on 9th of may now, all across Russia. Just after the parade. Or instead of, where it is not held. In Moscow it takes about 4-8 hours for all that people to pass. The key is that as long as we remember them, they do live and are still at their service. I do not go there. Just because my parents do. They carry 3 plates, 2 of them went missing, one, a girl then, serving in air defense, was hardly wounded but healed and died some 30 years later. I did not knew any of them, except for my grand-grandparent. And do not like crowds ( But when my parents won`t be able, I will go, with the same plates. Just to keep the memory.

10:30 Blue-white are Navy. Black with clumsy topcoats and hats at the back are Cossacks, they are not actually a regiment, but in that war there where regiments made up of Cossacks. Today there are organizations they call in a military way, but have nothing to do with the army. But they form their own regiments, which army might use or something like PMC, in the current war, for instance. Just in front of them is a regiment dressed in the uniform of WWII times. And with old guns too. Just to show how they looked back in 1945. Right behind the Navy, that is some kind of special regiment in their field uniform, not official (we call it "Parade uniform", "Paradka"). Maybe, the border guards. Yepp, these are different kinds of troops or regiments.

Parade on the Red Square takes place EVERY YEAR, on May 9. This 9-year gap is because of some special dates, some anniversaries. Why do only soldiers on the edge look forward? They must maintain the order and the path of the march, while the others can salute by looking at the guests and president. Otherwise, they would lose their direction and their perfect lining. You have some doubts about black and white footage? You can't make the scene where buildings are totally ruined and all the other things. If you have any doubts about the technology of that time, Chalie Chaplin made fun of Hitler in 1940. in his movie "The great dictator". So, Russians had the technology to make this kind of footage. Buster Keaton made his movie in 1926.

4:59 It's bittersweet. The Soviet Union lost an entire generation of men in this conflict. In fact, the Soviet Union ended the war with 1/3 as many men as women. So much so, that the Soviet leadership had a succession crisis in the 1960's and 70's: The entire Soviet establishment suffered a chronic shortage of 40-50 year old experienced men (and women!) to lead their various levels of government, state owned corporations, factories, universities etc and led directly to the gerontocracy of Soviet Leadership in the 1980's.

In "Lion King" hyeans were marching before they're going to attack Simba's land. In USSR & Russia soldiers are marching in honor of veterans, that protected their homeland from external agressor. LOTS OF TEXT.But it will answer your questions. 1:45 Yes, these are real chronicles of the military operations of those years. As now, the correspondents of those years were next to the fighters and recorded the chronicles of the battles, not only on the ground, but also in the air and at sea. 4:05 Fireworks are not green, no symbolism. Just because of the peculiarity of the film of those years, the color rendering made it green.Most likely they are red. 7:01 Victory Day is celebrated on the 9th .In Soviet times, parades were held only on anniversaries.Victory Day has been celebrated annually only since 2008 7:55 is the performance of a military greeting in the ranks in motion."All military personnel switch to a drill step, simultaneously turn their heads in the direction of the chief and stop moving with their hands or a hand that is not occupied with weapons. With the carbine in the shoulder position, the movement of the arm not occupied by the weapon does not stop. The squad commander, if he is unarmed or with a weapon in the "behind his back" position, turns his head and puts his hand to the headdress. Plus, those who go to the right look forward, and all the others in their direction, are equal to them, so as not to run ahead or fall behind, so it is more convenient to keep the formation. 10:13 The sailors go first. Behind them, in green uniforms and helmets, most likely intelligence (scouts). Then the infantry in khaki and caps. And in black, it seems to be a Caucasian corps in national clothes.

The Nazis had this plan, Generalplan Ost (Plan for the East), where they thought they would conquer Eastern Europe and Russia. They wanted to enslave all the people they didn't exterminate and work them on plantations like the Deep South had before the US Civil War--actual slavery. The imagery of victorious Soviet soldiers throwing Nazi flags onto the ground means so much more when you realize they won against a war of extermination and slavery. However imperfect Soviet socialism was, its foundational principles of equality between nations and sexes so offended the Nazis that it is edifying for all democratically minded people to see those Nazi flags tossed to the ground like the trash they were by people who should have remained our allies after the war.

Foreigners don’t understand what such honors are for, why celebrate some obscure victory that God knows how many years ago. Why all this “Wow”, “The graphics are realistic.” The reason for their misunderstanding lies on the surface; they cannot even imagine what it is like to lose more than 26.6 million people, of whom are your friends, relatives or, in general, your family. No one has gone through this, no one realizes what a rich history we have, but they judge openly by the picture, without reading into the history. Therefore, today, only 5-7% of the population of European countries know the history of Russia.

Is not that the fireworks are green but the film they used to document their victory celebration and yes the black and white film is real, basically every army has military photographers who are part of a military group of political officers, their job is to document history in photos and video among other military tasks, as a photographer myself I love to use very old film, Fomapan is one of my favorites from the Czech Republic founded in 1921, now days if you wish to document images that look green Lomography Metropolis is a good option. Something interesting is Ferrania which used to produce explosives for the Italian Army and eventually they decided to just produce 35mm film, some of the best Italian movies from the 50's and 60's were filmed with Ferrania.

Nope. That was a poor clue if they meant just Wehrmacht. Any military in the world are marching, and all of them do it right like that. Difference is that the most top-marching army was Prussian in 19th century. We took their style and training. The way you step, straitening the ancle, how hands move, how the spine is held and all that heap of such nuances. German Wehrmacht too, clear, as Prussia was the heart, a crystallization center for the united Germany. After this war western Germany, afaik, skipped this. But not the Eastern. Also, this manner was taken by Chinese and several other far east armies, like Korea and Vietnam. Today only in Russia, China and these other Far east countries can march properly. Others seem a bit weird or funny to me, in fact. And even in Russia, on these parades most regiments marching are not trained to march well enough, just cause these are real regiments, not spending enough time on marching. Have real jobs to do. Here is what real Prussian marching looks like: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqqZf3iuiNFgb5o Common Russian sailors marching during a flood in Thailand, in comparison to other crews (the last ones): kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKPRhWmOnZKAb7c Chinese marching, just brilliant: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpOue5lnbamXmqc
