Victron VenusOS UPGRADE v3.22 | Raspberry Pi 3 and Pi 4

Victron did Release a new version of their VenusOS 3.22. We will upgrade together to the latest version on my Raspberry Pi 4B and Raspberry Pi 3B+.
v3.22 - Feb 27th 2024
Changes:
• Fix MQTT issue that caused time-outs and/or internal MQTT service restart in systems where the GX was receiving many MQTT writes. This affects systems with customer-own software, for example special control loops that run a different ESS algorithm than the standard Victron one. The bug was introduced per v3.20.
• Improve firmware update stability of the Victron VM-3P75CT energy meter.
• Fix bug that (sometimes) caused the VM-3P75CT to not be read out properly - when connected over VE.Can.
• GUI: fix text in alarm and warning notifications of BMS and Charger alarms.

Good afternoon Toby, I have been watching your videos for some time with great interest. I usually live on a narrowboat on the canals here in the UK. I am currently installing my own comprehensive Victron system including a Pi 4. My system will monitor and control every function of the boat, much of which either natively in Venus OS or via the included MQTT and Node-Red. This includes things like monitoring all water, propane, diesel and various other things. It will via digital wifi radiator valves, Ruuvi tags and a relay on the GPIO pins control the central heating system with some fairly sophisticated logic, i.e. is there enough diesel in the tank and enough battery power to run the heating. Talking of batteries, I have 4 x 200Ah Victron Smart lithium's to power the whole system. I also have 3 x 410 watt solar panels on the roof all feeding into a Victron MPPT. The multiplus II has 2 x 230v outputs, the second is going to selectively power the immersion heater for hot water depending on solar input, battery levels, whether an external 230v input (shoreline) is present and current water temperature. As you can see, its going to be a fairly all in system for which I am still currently installing the hardware. I do often watch your videos to see what you're upto with Venus OS. Cheers, Peter.

Is it possible yet to connect Victron devices to the RPi using Bluetooth? The GlobalLink allows connection via Bluetooth.

Hi Tobi, I have a raspbery pi 3 with venus os connected to a touch screen. Unfortunately I want to replace the touchscreen as it doesn’t seem to turn off. Can I change the raspberry pi - simply put sd card in another pi 3 with new touch screen? Will this work or cause me more problems? Thanks Graham

Great video. Where would one submit a feature request, would like to be able to set an alarm by wattage based on an inverter

It depends on the inverter you have. Some, the multiplus II have that kind of sensor built in. I am ultimately going to do the same for various devices and appliances, both 12v and 230v on my narrowboat. In my case I'm going to utilise the GPIO mod and some external raspberry pi sensors in the system. Then either Venus OS will pick it up natively or expose the sensors to Node-Red and do it there instead.

@@ShaneS071 What are you feeding the information into? If you have both volts and amps then watts can be achieved with a simple mathematical calculation. Watts is volts x amps. Watts calculation The power P in watts (W) is equal to the voltage V in volts (V) times the current I in amps (A):
