Will this work on Raspbian OS?

American Boat and Yacht Council is frustrated by manufacturers and their "smart"/digital/bluetooth offerings that are outpacing standards. What is the problem with a thermocouple directly connected to the equipment that needs temperature data? Why do manufacturers like Victron force an EMF/RFR dense environment and less reliable data delivery? Now they've even taken the short range sensor, guaranteeing that the entire vessel be exposed to RFR with their 10m range sensor. Pisses me off. Victron makes decent equipment but they need to maintain more analog offerings for those who don't like less reliable wireless equipment and who don't want to be poisoned by EMF producing "smart" crap.

Hi Toby. It was me who asked you to do this a while back now, and I never thanked you. That’s mainly because I had lots of problems getting this to work reliably. I did get it working on one installation with multiple sensors, but on another I couldn’t. I’ve just gone back to it today and followed through and realised the reason it wasn’t working on the second installation is the GPIO pin was set to 26 by default and I hadn’t changed it to pin 4. I guess I had done that on the other installation but forgotten that step. So thank you so much for putting this video together.

I Bought 8 HiCrank Batteries (20KWH) in April 2024. They look identical as the one you are showing with same specs. Off Brand Chinese. I have been running my house with these using an XW-Pro. So far, so good. I was really hoping to find someone that dissected a similiar off-Brand with same case. I suspect these are all the same. Only $400 each and 10 year warranty. Sold Out now. Can't beat the price. I have to use a Victron Smart Shunt for my "State of Charge". An accessible BMS would have been better however budget restraints prevented that. Since the batteries don't move, I not concerned about the solder joints. Great Review. Just what I was looking for.

Hi Tobi, I have a Raspberry Pi3 with a 3.5-inch screen that could only be configured with version 2.89os of Venus and when updating it does not support it, it just says that there is an error.

I will admit to not fully reading the description for both power stations on their website. Do you know what the VSR function is and how would I make this work to charge the units. Both should have a built in VSR. I have both versions of this power station. Thanks.

At 150+ quid for the victron smart shunt and its poorer display/screen, is it fair to expect such levels from a unit that costs 30% of that?!. On top of which, anything from China has Chinglish instructions, best not to expect too much from cheap units from China and then you avoid disappointments. I agree its frustrating but you pays your money and you makes your choices!! At 90 quid saving over victron, you can afford to lose a day working it all out, it's built into your saving costs. I look forward to installing mine now and doing lots of swearing at it 😂✌️

Why don’t they make a bigger case with a drop in 280 ah battery. Yes, it will be bigger, but more user friendly than building your own battery.

so if there was a way to get maz light on front and back, you would get near 250 watts total ?

The biggest take away from this is that even with a full charged 280aH of reserve, when you put load on it the "battery gauge" drops to a flashing one bar, which gives you no real information of expected runtime at that load. Is there a battery kit out there that has intelligent system to give you estimated runtime? Most all in one battery boxes like Ecoflow and Jackery let you know how much time you have left at that load, and that is a HUGE thing to me in a situation where I'd be using a box like this.

What I have scene, unless they change the cells or something, I cannot see any other budget battery company beating this battery. The build construction, custom case, and built in display required R&D and just blows away most of the other battery companies I have scene. Right now these are $299.99 and with 15% off $254, I cannot see how these are not better than the others in the same price range? Good video!

@TobysReaifeSkills - Mod help Please: I bought the Blue Licitti New Battery Box 1,0000 watt with 280 Ah prismatic cells kit. The prismatic cells were charged great and awesome condition but due to the battery terminal extending on both sides too far, it won't fit the Blue Licitti battery box. We followed all the directions. There are other people on YT eho made KZbin who made videos on moving the bus bars around and bending one of them to make a battery post stick up but I don't have those skills or experience to attempt to do something like that. Do you know a battery terminal post I can attach to one or both of the battery ends to make come down to the side or up? I have tried contacting Licitti but they haven't responded. They were very fast on answering questions when I was looking at buying it but not a peep now when I need them.

Would you say this is a safe battery? What kind of charger would you use?

I recently did the trans fluid amd filter on a 2011 BWM X5 ZF8speed. This looks to be the same or similar variation transmission. Where did you get your instructions from? ZF recommends filling then running through the gears and getting to temp (specific temperature range escapes me now) which I used a scan tool to confirm amd made sure it was filled at that temp. Are you able to confirm if this is different for the transmission in the Jeep JL/JT?

Eco worthy solar panels outputs are way below claimed specs. Mine are worser. I have the same panels. With Victron controller , these panels will only produce about 130 watts each MAX. 4-5 year ago, panels from all manufacturers still produce those exact specs sticker / emblem wattage and more!! ohms law is all ways right! LOAD is a dependant variable as load is increased power in watts also increases. different type battery requires different voltages hence wattage will also be different. a module in between controls all of this

Tobi have you had any luck with calibrating the HDMI touchscreen running Venus OS on a Pi yet, mine works for one swipe then stops working, everyone seems to use the Ras Pi screen with the display port connected to the Pi and this seems to work, but HDMI screens don't work properly?
