I loved the "magic" of Cedar Point in the 80s. I remember not being able to sleep the night before going to CP because I was so excited. I still enjoy it today, but not like back then!

@@deborahchapman2130 Hell, I was 26-years-old when this was filmed and I remember when the log ride was where the raptor is now near the Blue Streak. My first time at Cedar Point was when I was 8 in 1964 and they still had the Stage Coach ride running through the midway. No one else remembers that ride with REAL horses I am a dedicated (ACE) roller coaster rider now.

Wow... I worked at Cedar Point for three summers, starting in ‘86, and the log ride was the first ride I worked. Seeing that blonde kid at 0:21 takes me back!!! Hearing the sounds, chatter, carousel music... I remember making eye contact with loads of park guests, wondering what was going on in their lives. I can almost feel the summer heat on my poly/cotton uniform. Feel the random splashes of the cold water. Smell the fragrance of the nearby Belgian waffle stand. Looking forward to shift’s end, going back to the employee dorms to relax after a long day. Best job I ever had. Thank you so much for loading this video. I love it...!

We'd get passes since '81 when we were old enough to drive and it was something we could afford to do a few times a week after work. I loved going on the pirate & earthquake rides back then, my boyfriend (husband still today in 2024) and I would steal a few kisses in the dark riding back then. (OMG the fun times we and our high school friends had. Thank you for sharing the rides and some of the park attendee looks of our time.

It's funny. Time is a thief. You don't realize how valuable this sort of family video is until time has done what it does. Parents and grandparents grow old and pass on. Children grow up. Culture changes. Old beloved rides and attractions are torn down and replaced with new ones. Thank you for this trip down memory lane. My dad's workplace would have company picnics here. We didn't move to Ohio until 88 (when I was 7), but I remember the picnic pavilion near Blue Streak where his company had hot dogs and burgers for the employees and their families. I'd get a clear view of the lift hill. And the log ride was right there. I remember riding it with my cousins. I was too short to ride Blue Streak and terrified of coasters (until my 20's) lol. I'm pretty sure that area is cleared out for a walkway to Blue Streak and Valravan. I think the pavilion came down around '93 when the log ride was taken out for Raptor. Now I want to go look for old park maps to find it. :) But I can attest there's no gift shops in the area except for the Valravan shop when you get off the ride. There's a resturant in the area the dark ride used to be, it's a sports bar and grill sit down resturant. I've gotten lunch and a drink there a few times.

Having a bunch of family attractions, dark rides, animals etc. Would definitely make a better theme park as a whole. But they can't market that, or at least they don't know how. In order to get people from around the country they have to have the "craziest" of some non family ride. Which does work, but as a whole, the theme park disappears

Was there that year. A young man of 21. Been going from 74 to 2019. Sad what it is today. I love coasters but to constantly take away free perks like the picnic garden etc. Its just too money driven now. And since its cashless i have no desire to go back. I will I'm sure with my kids and grandkids, but my time there is coming to an end. I used to buy season passes and go 3 or 4 times a year. I'm just not down with places going cashless and i don't go to them. The price is too high, the waits too long, the no cash, and just focusing on coasters and not much else has turned me off. Good video though.

It honestly depends on when you go. I went in 2019 during Halloweekends and it was pretty packed when I rode it, and I had to wait to get on. But there's usually huge crowds at that time, so everything has a wait, including the older and less thrilling flat rides. If you go on an off-time (my fave is late August before Labor Day) or weekdays in early June, most things are empty and even the larger rides have less of a wait. I went last week and had a 30 minute wait for Steel Vengance and Maverick (normally about 1.5 - 2 hrs)
