I've used this tool and it's super accurate and easy to use. Not to mention that if you drill your pilot hole off, the guide will correct it. Great tool.

I have said from the start I welcome comments good and bad as it ads to improvements but I honestly say these work great and I'm not sure there is any way of improving these tools

I have known it to be a mortise lock(case) Your guide tools are cool but I can see the one work on a mortise lock if a thumb turn is needed but the amount of time to measure out the cylinder bore you can have the A/R off the door and while the A/R is off the door you are preventing metal filings from falling into the lock specially a deadlatch which could cause the lock to jam up then use your 1-1/4 and drill through. But to suite there own and what ever works. But remember the metal filings that can be a headache specially on a warranty call.

Thanks for your reply On Mortise Case or Cassette, Although with the guide system you do not have to measure accurately and hands down it is faster and more accurate in the area I'm working I have seen lots of Adams Rite installed with little tabs that are not even screwed to the door so these are a real nightmare to reinstall. I have never had metal shaving gotten into the Adams Rite ever, the hole saw ejects to the outside of the astragal last week at a complex I did five astragals and not one had any metal filings in the dead latches the point is you do not need to measure accurately you just need the hole to be accurate enough for the 1/4 inch guide in many times the 3/8 hole is not accurate but I can see the guide that is all that is needed.

Thanks James that would be a proper and fair comparison, I was thinking that maybe the channel will have a contest when it gets so many subscribers a draw and I would make a tool of choice to the winner. Jeff

The guide itself stops metal getting into the Adams Rite and I have even loaned this tool to a new apprentice and he pulled off the perfect install with no problem and very little instructions

Mortise lock case. I consult the part list when in doubt, slang in technical communication is unacceptable. How would you regard doctors in Dallas naming medical stuff one way and doctors in NY naming the same stuff another way....
