Hi, the hut is very stable, not a single window has broken. I would put the hut on building blocks so that the underside does not absorb moisture and is always ventilated

I'd recommend once you get a spot for that cabin identifed, creating a gravel pad for it to set on that is a slighly higher grade than surrounding ground so it will drain. Then pick it up carefully and set it on some 6x6 lumber or railroad ties to get it up off the ground. You don't want those runners rotting away given they are structural to the unit. We did this exact thing for a 12x34 cabin. So far it's worked great.

I agree with this, but Erik wanted to drag it, which while saves $$ does not give the option to pick it up without damaging it :(

I can tell you that here 99.9% of Christmas tree places barely have a shed for the register. Most people show up, pick out a tree, pay and leave. If anything I would set up the shed out front and use it for sales and inside have maybe a small coffee/hot coco bar, maybe some cookies. Maple syrup and maybe some Christmas bric-a-brac all for sale. Put a flocking machine and the wrapper there as well.

I would probably agree with you. But those that HAVE a gift shop have reported DOUBLING their sales from them. Since our tree farm will be a big community attraction, I think a gift shop would be a wise move to invest in, but it will be 3x bigger than the cabin :) I plan to offer locally made items along with christmas theme gifts, snow globes and of course home made fine jewelry. Not normally something you'd find in a tree farm shop, but I think it will be a good attraction :)

Cabin gift shop and a place to pay for the tree they bought would be a good idea unless you plan to have a separate building for that.
@This1LifeWeLive4 ай бұрын
LOL, Erik was thinking that too but she's still my baby, so I am planning on a larger space for a gift shop anyway. Those I have talked to said they made as much if not more from their gift shops as from their tree sales, so I am planning accordingly ;) I will keep my cabin as my writing and prayer place, but it might end up getting moved one last time, we will see :)

Nice video. I didn't miss the music. The babies provided that. The only tree the geese might eat is the tender new growth. I hope your fowl have something for cover. I belive an owl. Picked off all my ducks. You must of had long lagbolts through the front board and into a runner.

You should buy some railroad ties to put under your house for a foundation so the bottom of your house won't rott out!
@This1LifeWeLive4 ай бұрын
WE do have RR ties, but no real way to get them UP onto them. It does have treated 4x4 runners, but even with the RR ties it can still rot since the floor is pine board. I had requested hardwood like oak or maple, but they did NOT make any of my requested build to spec :(

*When your new home is finally built, could you lift & shift the office cabin over beside or behind it so then your office is more closer to your new home?? So then you are closer if anything happens plus less time to walk home after working in the winter months 🙂nz*
@This1LifeWeLive4 ай бұрын
Probably it WILL be moved again, and set on a solid foundation. My office will move into the house (so no more walks in the dark), but the cabin will stay a writing retreat, and connected to solar long-term. And I think the next move we will have it professionally done and LIFTED and set into place ;D

I know I’m a little behind on watching your videos, but I was wondering how many goslings / geese you’re looking at breeding? I know you said you were hoping to have had 200, but that many geese can clear 1/2 an acre in 3-4 weeks. I only ask because one of my friends mom and dad had a 18 Acre farm and decided to raise 300 geese for selling for Christmas dinners a few years back and they cleared 5 acres in 4 1/2 months.
@This1LifeWeLive2 ай бұрын
That's very cool to hear! Did they have a good interest in people buying them for dinner? We have yet to try one, but Erik was sold when he saw a video one day on KZbin on cooking one! So from what I had read, each goose lays approx. 30 eggs, and of those maybe 75% will be hatchable. Sadly, our numbers were NOT there. I'd say maybe 15 total eggs for each goose, and maybe 75% hatched. I had a few hatch and not thrive, and a few ended badly with our electric netting. So, we have maybe 22? very disappointing. Unfortunately because so few hatched, I couldn't get the grass eaten fast enough and it grew too tall, so now they have to eat AND trample it down. I have them on less than 1/4 at a time and they still don't clear it fully down. My original 8 are on 1.5 acres and that's a jungle! Positives though: they don't exactly eat the tress, a few did take damage because they were bored, but I think next year the manure will really fire them up with growth. I think if it's something I plan to do again, I will sit down and better look at my pens and set-ups. I had assumed they could go outside in the fence after 1 week, but they are small enough to shoot through the fence with no shock...

Never hook on a Ball like that. Never stand in the 'Triangle of Death' (between tow chains). If you remember how it was delivered, Either End can be lifted with forks. It should be mounted on 8" Concrete Blocks, under the 4 stringers every 8'. IF those stringers rot, the cabin will be junk.
@This1LifeWeLive4 ай бұрын
The runners are treated 4x4 posts, but it should be on a cement foundation with plastic under the cement. It likely will get moved in another 2 years anyway. But I HAD requested the floor to be made from hardwood to prevent rotting, but they didn't make ANY of the cabin per my request :(
