I dont remember to name if the of it, but I read a research paper about the time and depth of a safety stop and tendency to have different bubble counts. And what I've been doing based on that is splitting up my safety stops, spending 1.5 mins at 5m, 1 min at 4m, and 3m seconds at 3m. This is followed by a nice slow acent to the surface. Doing this has almost completely eliminated any type of post dive fatigue as that was something I frequently experienced. So essentially, I'm like riding a constant GG99 as my Surface GF goes down.

Hi Woody, great video series! I purchased Andy’s article to reference, money well spent!

Hi Woody @DIVETALKPLUS , very nice video of an extremely helpful article. Please correct me if I am wrong but after the ascent your GF tends to "spike" a little . Having said that even if you finish your dive with a SurfGF of lets say 75% it will spike up to 78 or 80 for a short period of time . Isnt this something that we need to consider when setting our GFhi ? Or at least plan to end the dive when our SurfGF is lets say 10%lower from our GFhi?

Woody, what was your GF99 when you had your DCS hit?

I did my final stops at 20 feet and 10 feet. I would have to look back at my computer to see what my final GF99 was at 20 feet and 10 feet (of course that changes constantly) but my GF Low was set at 40 and GF High at 70.

@@chris.wachtel I’ll check that and get back to you on that. Don’t have that computer near me right now but I usually try to stay an extra minute or two at final stops and get that to like 60-65 range. (I was on CCR so I’ll typically bump up PO2 above my set point as well in those last few minutes, not exceeding my CNS clock limits of course (a discussion beyond the scope of these videos). 😊

@DIVETALKPLUS A topic I would like to hear about would be GF99/GF Surf when performing in water recompression. Assuming you were not near a chamber but able and equipped to get back in the water on 100% O2 after early signs of DCS, what GF99/GF Surf range do you want to surface at, or do you stay in the water until you're out of O2 / cant stay in the water anylonger?

@@chris.wachtelthat would be a very cool topic. I’m not qualified to discuss that but I recall Doug Ebersole telling me he took a course on this recently. This is a great idea and I’d like Doug to make a video on this . Great idea!
