You should have seen that canyon in the floods of 82-83 the hay stack waves at Disaster Falls where 15-20 feet high, you lost site of the other boats when you dropped into the troughs. You felt as if you where being flushed down a toilet. I have been back once since and the river was changed quit a bit. I have run ladore many times as I worked for Holiday River exp. for 2 years and 2 private trips including the flood. One of my favorite trips.

I recently took a paddle boat through Hell's Half Mile, and witnessed Lucifer under water. I'm expecting higher flows. But that's the highest I've done it.

@@rogueyeti6818 Hell's Half Mile is a lot easier now after the flood in 82-83. AT normal water flows the chute ant the rock you call Lucifer was a narrow one with a large rock standing vertical directly in your path, you had to drop your right oar in the eddy behind Lucifer so you would get sucked over to the right or you where on that rock, I know because I was on it more than once.

Mike, don't think we've met but I did a lot of trips with Holiday. In a Duckie one time, really low water, I went past Lucifer and got sucked back under it. Paddled really hard and got away, but it was scary.@@mikepoelman4901

The name came about when Powell and his men came to the rapid in June 1869, and were talking about what to name it. Jack Sumner said "Would Hell's Half Mile suit?" Despite Powell's Victorian morals, the name stuck. Many, many adventures in Hell's Half!

Thank you for the video. Good info. I had no idea Seth Rogen was a moonlighting river rat.
