Thanks. The conditions were certainly testing both man and machine!

What a struggle! If only the general public could appreciate what it takes to get a spud on a plate!! Interestingly the Grimme machine looked to have a much nicer sample than the ploeger? Is that because of less material going through at once or just in a drier bit of going? Interesting vid thanks 👍🏻
@JDautopower Жыл бұрын
Thank you. It was better going where I filmed the Grimme, but it has a slightly different cleaning system set up compared to the Ploeger, which I was told does make a difference in really bad going. Think it has double multi sep, compared with dolmans and a single multi sep on the Ploeger. Your right about the public not realising what’s involved though!

Thanks for the update, certainly wet about we’ve had around 200 mm in Suffolk since beginning of October, we’ve got sugar beet in the ground on heavy land can’t get near it.

You’ve had a lot more than us, 2023 just keeps on giving!

Here in Cornwall we had 135mm in October and 80mm so far in the first 4 days of November. All drilled up but nothing sprayed.
@JDautopower Жыл бұрын
It’s been a hell of a season, just looked, and our total for October was 122mm and 22mm so far in November, it’s certainly one year we won’t forget in a hurry.

We still have 250 acres of wheat to drill, we have sprayed some, but not all

Thought you had more than 100mm.in south norfolk where I farm we have had 159mm in oct.can’t beleive no floats on the trailers,super singles are dreadful on anything but hard ground.that mud in the spud field would make me cry if it was my land,which will be ruined for 12 months plus at least
@JDautopower Жыл бұрын
We didn’t want to be greedy with the rain! To be fair some trailers had flotations on them. Sadly when growing root crops, soil damage at harvest is a real risk, especially this year! 🤦🏻♂️

What a mess but great they're able to get them harvested. How wide is the Ploeger? Looks massive to get down the road.
@JDautopower Жыл бұрын
Yes it wasn’t pretty. Not sure on the width, but I think it’s about 4m wide, definitely not easy to move on the roads.

The yellow monsters are the best harvester in the wet.

It’s certainly a hell of a machine!

this how hard farming is
@JDautopower Жыл бұрын
Yes it certainly an uphill struggle this year!
@petesampson5775 Жыл бұрын
You’d think they’d have flotation tyres on trailer
@JDautopower Жыл бұрын
Sorry some had super singles on, for opening up purposes, but some did have flotations on. There were a lot of trailers keeping the machines going!

Sorry Pete, have edited my earlier post.

Personally I think that unloading in the field not a good practice given the conditions. Un load on headland lost productivity nothing compared to soil structure damage. Suspect land be contracted out for growing season so land owner going to suffer in future not the grower
@JDautopower Жыл бұрын
It’s right what you are saying, but not even the Ploeger machine could not do a full length of the field, and certainly not the Grimme
