The consoles they came up with in the 80s and 90s absolutely brilliant. Great video. Thanks.

yeah they had some great ideas, really inventive stuff even if it didn't always succeed, i'd love to know what other plans for VHS stuff Sega had

I used to have these tapes in my house when i was a kid in the 80's. I never knew where they came from or what they were for. I watched them all the time pretending to drive. Thanks for the nostalgia.

How strange that you only had the tapes, but yeah, now you know what you missed out on I guess

I like how sega among other game company’s did make clever use of the vcr deck to interact with digital devices like this, i absolutely give them credit to use such budget alternative way for peoples on a budget who just can’t effort them selves a high expensive game console ,,, Believe me, if i would,ve seen such device when i was 5 years old, i would,ve been mind blown away.
@ReplayRetro5 жыл бұрын
Yeah at the very least its a clever way to use the tech, it actually really reminds me of that Tomy Turbo Dashboard toy but with a video element to it, 5 year old me would definitely agree with 5 year old you!

I think it's pretty much unused, all the packaging was still in the box for example and there are stickers for permanently attaching it to a screen which haven't been used

I feel how this channel feels. We don't get the views because we're not unboxing an iPhone 14 XRMMX Pro, or talking about Cardi B.

You could probably make your own games for this system. Just fit a dashcam in your car, film some footage then use a video editing program to add the white bars for scoring.

I vividly remember seeing this in an Argos catalogue way back in the late 80s. I was absolutely blown away back then as I thought ''An arcade game with REAL graphics?'' I really twisted my parent's arm to get me one but they said to me ''No. Its for those who can't afford a Nintendo or a Sega''. Obviously I was rather upset. Later on that year in a well-known toy shop, they had a demo unit on show and the assistant let me have a go on it. How dull the actual 'game' (if you can call it that) was.

That is one big sensor bar! Of course, that was a long time before the Wii came out!
@ReplayRetro5 жыл бұрын
haha, yeah it's pretty big, although to be fair its only that one tiny part thats the sensor, the rest of the bar is more of a transport system for it, it's a simple but very clever design

I've owned it for a few years. I got it in used condition from abroad and had to repair some internal gears to make it work.Imagine the kids of these age, watching and playing this for the first time! Very good cooperation of the 2 companies (Sega and Tyco). By the way, would you be able to send me the scans of the instructions so I can print them because mine are missing?

VHS gaming is not the same thing as arcade gaming because even those light gun games the ones that are linear where everything stays the same each time still had interactivity like shooting a barrel blew it up or missing somebody you get shot and you die there are different animations and FX and things that happen where is the VHS gaming literally changes nothing each time, I guess the best way to describe it would be there's no visual feedback from the game and these consoles and devices had to rely on external hardware to emit sound and in this case move a little car around

The 3rd game is the worse of the 3. I don't know what race class it is. I Think 2 different ones. The black car has a diffuser and the red one doesn't
@ReplayRetro5 жыл бұрын
Yeah that last game is awful, i didn't think you could make a game noticeably worse than others on a format like this but it's all the jumping around between different camera angles and different shots, as a result you never know where the heck you are in that game. i can't for the life of me understand why someone did that instead of just a constant shot as used in the other games
@LGP825 жыл бұрын
@@ReplayRetro "i can't for the life of me understand why someone did that instead of just a constant shot as used in the other games" I agree. Just the onboard cockpit camera all the time will be fine. I can do a better job with my Lego. Come to think of it. Wouldn't it be cool if I could a game with a Lego GT on the car "Road Avenger" gameplay style.
