So uh editing is easy actually, here's a 3 step process for you to go from an editing beginner to a professional in a relatively short amount of time. Ngl if I did this sooner it would've saved a lot of time and pain.

Your calm personality is refreshing from the sea of hyper people and hyper editing.. That the public considers as "good editing" when you do flashy stuff..

I could only edit as well as I can with an app called inshot, my editing pesked in my last few longer videos I made, but now it’s been like 2 years and I want to become someone recognizable (with some good humor)😅

Have a project on the side that you work on bit by bit that ads up to a long edit. Sometimes doing longer/more complex edits teaches you so much.

I'll be honest I have never edited long form documentary style content so I wouldn't know. Seems to me and organisation thing again just do sub folders for further filtering. I will be doing longer form content soon though, so I'll learn haha.

Hey, how long did it take you to edit this video and what kind of timeframe do you give yourself to edit your personal videos? I just spent 3 weeks editing a 10min vid to really polish it and while it's an edit I'm really proud of, unless it lines me up an editing job or miraculously blows up, I feel like I could or should have spent that time making more videos. Thanks!
@tommovision

My vids tend to take between 10 to 15 hours or so to edit (not counting scripting filming etc). I think it's always better to focus on quality over quantity, but if you really want to succeed at KZbin you need to build a good bank of videos when you're starting new (posting at least once every two weeks, ideally once a week).
@xinidae
@xinidae Күн бұрын
@@tommovision Gotcha thanks for the reply! I'm going to aim for weekly uploads and try not to go overkill on my edits, so they don't take so long. If you got time, I just posted the video I was working on and would love some feedback.

@@tommovision A video about getting a dog or building a toy rocket. Verses a lofi video or only having B-Roll of mowing a lawn so the person just plays it at 200 speed with a voice over haha. Am I right to assume if you don't have A-Roll to edit just... make your own?
@tommovision
@tommovision 7 күн бұрын
@@karmaloe2688 The key question is always is this actual interesting content that people will watch - like what's the value it's offering people. That's all. There are some very simple edits out there that get hundreds of thousands of views.

I learned from you that looking like a video wizard is key to getting hired, even if you're not one. As a professional editor, I see your editing is basic. It's your appearance that makes the video watchable.

The whole point of this channel is to show that you don't need insane editing to get work, create successful videos or grow a KZbin channel. Other skills such as storytelling etc are far more important. I ain't trying to look like some video wizard, I'm just teaching what I've learnt over the years and having some fun doing it.

Hey @tommovision now that I understand you're not trying to show off, I totally agree with you! It's definitely more about storytelling and the content itself. Your approach makes video creation seem accessible and fun. Keep up the great work! ..Respect for Replying✊
