Video: Granite City school bus crashes into parked cars with students on board

A Granite City Community Unit School District #9 bus crashed Monday morning with kids on board into several parked cars, leaving a wake of damage.

I am a bus driver. Our job is to get your child from point A to point B safely. Navigating traffic both morning and afternoon is a full-time commitment. Kids are going to be kids. Teach your child bus safety. Sitting in their seat, not hanging out in the aisle. Keep chit-chat to indoor voices, not recess voices. Keep hands and feet to themselves. And above all else be nice!! If you have nothing nice to say stay quiet! JS THE BUS DRIVER Who wants to return your child to you safely!

I am a school bus driver and before you judge go and ride on a bus full of children. There is no monitor on these buses so the bus driver basically multiple things. The drivers responsibility should be one thing and one thing only.- the safe navigation of a school bus containing 50-70 students.

Not everyone is wealthy here. Being from Canada, you should know better. I would expect that from Europe and Asia, and I have been to both.

Boo hoo, before you judge the driver, which brat wasn't doing what they were supposed to be doing. And what does being pregnant have to do with any of this. Unless you drive a school bus, you have no right to judge or comment.

That's a bit harsh. Everyone has a right to their opinion even if they are way wrong. I reserve my judgement until I know all the facts, until then, I can suppose all I want, but I will admit if wrong. My younger brother drives school busses. Kids will be kids and if the driver is being assaulted, then the driver must pull over as soon as possible. There is a lot of responsibility in being a school bus driver, and I have a great respect to those who can do that job. Obviously, we don't have all the facts of this particular situation, so I don't hold any blame on anyone.

bus 2 for grigsby 2023 i was in 5th grade at grigsby and my friend rode bus 2 (the bus that crashed) and told me the driver was looking back at the kids because they were misbehaving and thats when it happened

So do they not compensate the car owners despite evidence. So in america a school, company or even civil servant can crash into your car and refuse to offer compensation. Glad I don't live there

This is a more complex situation with cause being student distracting driver. Yes the driver shouldn't have allowed themselves to be distracted. I'm curious how the driver was distracted. What did the student do? Have they been written up (if there's something they're doing wrong)? I think we should all wait and see what all the evidence is.
