I am using a Nvidia Shield controller connected to my pc via USB, and I can not get Mala to recognize any input from the controller. Is there a guide to mapping the controller buttons for Mala, or will this controller not work?

UPDATE: Found out that I could, it just would be a pain to redirect all the files and configs. I'll just redirect the PS2 and PSX games to another hard drive, other than that I'll keep in on the C drive. Does this have to be extracted to the C drive? I use an SSD for my OS drive and have limited space. PS2 games and other can start taking up a lot of space. Can I just put it on another hard drive?

I am having so many issues with this. I had it working perfectly on Windows 8.1, but I cannot get it to work on Win7. PS2 games won't start, the Steam batch file won't work as it comes up with an xinput DLL error.

Any thoughts on getting the X360 controller, the one you've already set a number of emulators for, to work with Yabause? I can either get it to work, but it's caught in a loop going to Memory Manager over and over or I can configure it so that I can launch the game, but with no input whatsoever. Thanks for any insight, thanks for the walkthrough, and more importantly, thanks for giving us a pre-configured directory structure and pre-configured Mala. One thing of note: I couldn't get Sega CD games to come up no matter what I did. So, I finally tried re-configuring Sega CD with Mala's options, primarily location of games. Rather than type in the directory, I browsed to it. All was well immediately. Thought I'd share in case someone else was facing a similar issue.

I did the steps but when I opened Mala only appears to me on screen one emu, how did you put to see all the list? And besides that, I have the Xbox One controller, but it seems it didn't recognize it... How could I configure this on the options menu? Thanks!

Via the steam link it is workingfor me. But the Wii games won' start? it says "failed to execute program "Dolphin.exe/e ....." And for playstation two sound is not working. Any Ideas?

i had to unpack zip file Emulations into a file drive other than C:\ is there any way i can rewrite or re rout where steamstartup tries to execute to like E:\ for instance

Ok something went wrong. I followed the directions to a T. Before I restarted my machine, the DS4 controller moved through the MALA interface just fine. After restart, nothing. I have to use a keyboard and when in the game, the DS4 touchpad moved the mouse pointer. I tried the SNES emulator if that helps. I also downloaded a different SNES emulator and got the same result. Help!

I want to add that I'm running Windows 10 and using input mapper. controller works everywhere but the emulators now. do I need to add the snes start up file to the custom shell list of input mapper? I will be forever grateful if you can get back to me.

When streaming(IHS or Shield), my xbox one controller does not work in mala. I have to use my keyboard to select a game, but once i'm in the game the controller works. What could be causing this?

i got everything working properly, but i do have one question. has anyone figured out how to exit and change games using the controller? im using an xbox 360 controller instead of a PS3 controller does that really make a difference?

Tornwingss It does not, in fact as far as windows is concerned I'm using a 360 controller. If you are on windows 10 then you need to run the guide to key program in compatibility mode for windows 8. The program maps the guide button to the ESC key. so pressing the ESC key will also exit the emulators and the front end.

I'm having a lot of trouble using my DS4 controller. It works for some games like Smash Bros. on GC (and even then it wasn't perfect) but it doesn't work for Smash Bros. on N64 or any other N64 games. I'm using InputMapper and it works for Big Picture on Steam and the initial Mala interface. It says it's emulating an Xbox 360 controller and uses XInput, but I can't seem to figure out why it works with some games and not others. Is there something I'm missing with the initial config?

+brennyan In the latest update of the zip file I exchanged a pj64 installer with a portable version of the program that requires no install. I thought I had transferred over the configurations but upon checking it seems I was mistaken. I am reuploading the zip with the configuration but in the meantime here is the controller profile for the n64 controller goo.gl/5AXmim . Go to C:\emulation\N64\Project64 2.2 open the emulator, select options, configure the controller, click load profile and select the provided file. Sorry about that. Nintendo controllers from the n64 on are rather unique and mapping to a xbox or sony controller is not straight forward as it is with other systems. You can go into input configuration of a systems emulator and tweak to your liking if you do not find my configuration ideal.

+Kenny Hobart The only problem I've been having with using my Steam Controller is that I can't find any N64 XInput plugins that are compatible with Mala so I can only use my joystick to emulate the arrow keys. Other than that, I had to disable "Allow Desktop Configuration in Launcher" under "Controller Options" before you boot up the game in Big Picture Mode. Hopefully this works for you. :)

I currently have everything running relatively smoothly, however I have come just short of the final perfect results. My favorite PlayStation games are Crash Bandicoot. Both files that I have downloaded for the game (Crash 2, and Crash Warped) are ecm. files. Mala doesn't seem to recognize them when I refresh the games, but will recognize Crash Bandicoot 1 as a bin. file. Also, the PlayStation home button isn't working properly. Instead of being able to easily return to the Mala game hub, the home button brings up what appears to be "Xbox live" nonsense. This causes Mala to freeze, resulting in having to force quit through task manager. I am running windows 10. Oh and would you be able to Zip. All of your working ISO's? It would be fantastic to download them all together and knowing that they will work. Other than that, this has to be the greatest thing since Cheesecake.. and I love me some cheesecake. Thank you for this!

+Skylar Dane I am still running 8.1 so this is the first I am hearing of the guide button being mapped to live in 10. Try and disable the xbox live feature kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYaZdXmLnKd4ask. Let me know if this works, if it does ill add the method to the guide. ecm is a form of iso compression, it will need to be unpacked for it to be recognized and playable, here is the software you'll need go.shr.lc/1QzPmMr and here is how to use the software go.shr.lc/1QzQ78f.

+efaustus9 I followed the steps in the video and went so far as to completely disable the Xbox application. Now the home button has no function. If I use ESC I can back out of the game but it stays frozen on the Mala Menu. Perhaps I missed something. Was I supposed to setup anything in regards to the home button? My startup only contains two files and I haven't touch the "button_on_guide2" folder at all.

+Skylar Dane The button_on_guide2 application maps the guide button to the esc key. If it is staying frozen on mala then it seems that AllInOneFYC is not running. AllinOneFYC will let you force close a selected process with a key. Some emulators do not close completely with just the esc key and so i employed AllinOneFYC to completely close these programs and their ancillary processes. If mala detects a process it has launched is still running it will be unresponsive until that process is closed, hence AllinOneFYC. Try replacing steamstartup.bat in your user startup folder with this alternative go.shr.lc/1QSfrF6 then restart and let me know if that resolved your problem.

+efaustus9 Alright, so the new code solved the freezing issue. I can now exit PSX with the ESC key. This however, has not solved the home button on the PS3 controller. I am using Better DS3 for my controller through USB and I have a dongle on the way. Could it be a mapping issue with the controller? The button just simply has no function. Using the ESC key brings me back to the menu but it offsets the entire display for some odd reason. I'm starting to wonder how many files are missing? On your completed setup you could easily play arcade games through mame. I've spent a few hours working with mame trying to figure it out but files are missing, including the application itself. I went and downloaded MAMEUI, and was able to run Metal Slug 3 through the app. However when I ran it through Mala there was no sound. I'm getting the feeling that these files came incomplete and I'm trying to learn all of the emulators. For example the "NEO-GEO" Rom that you need in order to play neo games isn't included. I'm doing my best to fill in the gaps but I just keep running into more problems.

+Skylar Dane It appears the application I used to map the guide button to the esc key no longer works in windows 10. I have found an alternate program to serve this purpose in windows 10. I have updated the zip but I have also uploaded the fix separately here go.shr.lc/1Zk9VhE with instructions on how to apply. As for MAME it is included I show how to extract at 2:22. While it increases the size of the download I have updated the zip so the extraction is no longer necessary. Any other issues?

+kensik Same problem here. If you unplug the controller after you start Mala and plug it back in, it seems to work. If you go to the advanced joystick settings while the Xbox One controller is plugged in initially, you'll see the controller 2 POV buttons appear to be permanently activated. Unplugging the controller and plugging back in AFTER Mala is running resets it.
