@pac60107 жыл бұрын
Yeah but think about cost effectiveness though. Those big vacuum machines for gold are viable because how else are you going to get fine gold particles out of sand on the bottom of the ocean ? Lionfish on the other hand are these half retarded things that just sit on the bottom of the ocean floor and hardly move. One guy with dive gear and a spear pole can do the work of an expensive machine much more effectively.

I spent 3 weeks in micronesia scuba diving and the only way to see a lion fish was to look into deep crevices in the reef. They sure were not out in the open like this and they were not nearly as big. These devils need to be eradicated from Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. If we do not take quick drastic action, the only fish we will see are lionfish as they eat all the fry of every other fish.

WOW. That's insane! I watched another vidoe that they have been able to study them more closely and discovered that even when they're in high concentrations like this, the food isn't as plentiful for them and they can shut down their metabolism. They said that in 3 months of not being fed one iota, they only lost 10% of their body weight... so they can survive till more fish eggs hatch & wipe them out too, GRR. I hope you're able to spear some of them -- every little bit helps!

The density of these destructive pests is so high that it seems like a six-inch suction dredge could clean out every lionfish in sight in a couple of minutes. Somebody should try it. There is no steady, dependable supply of lionfish for the restaurants currently. If there WAS, lionfish would be a popular menu item and that would do the ocean ecosystem a lot of good.
