love the BTS of shooting. Maybe a BTS of editing would be fun too sometime!

You were pulling focus manually with lots of movement & your shots stayed sharp. Great job! So…what aperture did you use?

Love to see how you are using this minimal combination of A7SIII and the SIrui anamorphic. But I wonder how you can pull focus with just the A7SIII screen. Also it seems you are using no internal stabilization. Do you use the gyro stabilzation data of the A7SIII or just slow down the footage and do a little warp stabilizer in post? Great work overall! You inspire me to shoot portraits someday. :)

hi Mabo you are amazing! im one of you're greatest fan! you're video are very inspiring I hope you keep making these videos, they are very helpful! i only use a sony a 6400 i hope u can show that this kind of video can also be achievable even though i dont have your full frame camera and lense.

Honestly, comes down to composition and lightning. You don’t need full frame, I have the exact same camera that you do. I would advise getting fast lenses like the sigma 30 mm 1.4 or if you want to get even crazier, shallow and closer in focus, you could use an 85 mm which an APS you would give you around 100 something mm. After that point, just find the real cool locations and models and you should be set.

Do you shoot in 60fps or more?

A general question: I notice that you make fairly violent movements while shooting. And also notice that the extreme movements did not make it into the edit. Was yourself a bit too enthusiastic and did you find the footage underwhelming and not usable or was this purely just an editing choice? You are shooting in 60FPS or 100?

I was wondering this too, I noticed in the final edit quite a few shots are slowed down which minimises how obvious the shakes are. Then I guess there's some amount of stabilisation applied in post on the other full speed shots. It's always tricky picking a frame rate to shoot at too. 120/100 covers you for slow motion but 24/25fps gets that nice film-like motion blur and frame rate. 50/60fps is sort of in-between and gives a bit of both. It seems unrealistic to switch between them per shot too given that a lot of the creative decisions would happen during the edit. The issue I find with shooting everything at 120/100fps is if you do use a shot at full speed then it looks odd with no motion blur, so you're sort of locked in to only slow motion playback when there's camera movement/people moving.
