Yes, I also had to drill with the 'bundook' And what a bloody lovely piece of kit it was!
@MikeWellington-w7j7 ай бұрын
I also had the privelage of training with and using the SLR Never having used the 5.56mm I wouldn't be able to comment on its effectiveness. However I remain convinced that drill with the 'bundook' looked smarter.

Same for the RAF but the SNCOs/WOs were/are always pushing the boundaries with berets and cap peaks.

It hasn't changed. Poor leadership is to blame.

@@JammyDodger45 Brilliant, I too was Para reg. Theres nothing wrong with letting the guys shape their beret with pride. I did a full career (24 years) and there was nothing worse than crust old boys whining about the shape of the beret...lets get over it and let younger generations through their versions of 'fashion' as long as they maintain the standards expected of them. nd if you feel regiments like the Paras were big on drill and turn out, then yes, things have changed massively. now they pride themselves on being one of the best fighting units in the world.

at 4:41 the guy with the red sash should reposition and shape his beret to look like every one else, it looks ridiculous almost covering his left eye, looks like a cow pat 😆

Upside down? Must be in distress and needing help! Glad to see the battalion’s still surviving, the Goverment said they were too expensive and always wanted extra funds for training. My lot in 1960 had only seven of us left to be posted to the Battalions, four of us managed to get to 3 Para. Long time ago, but once a Para, always a Para. Cheers mate. Harera
