I know Fortress Maximus was huge, but I really loved Metroplex. I got him for Xmas one year when I was a kid. It was either him or maybe two normal sized Transformers. So, I chose to ask for Metroplex. I still think he's awesome and never regretted my choice back in the day. I know there is a a couple of newer and bigger versions of him out there, but the G1 will always be bad ass. Plus, love the idea that at this point no Transformer HAD to have a fleshling to rely on transforming. That being said, all G1 Transformers rule.

Scramble city didnt came out after G1 ended, it was an episode between the 2nd season and the movie. Metroplex would later appear in season 3.

A gun combiner.... Oh my god, I love the 80's; makes me wish I was born then, just so I could love these toys like those that grew up with awesome toys like Metroplex. Yet another awesome toy review, Optibotimus. :)

I'm so happy to have this review. My mom bought me this guy at a yard sale in '91 (I think) and I never had a clue who he was or even how he went together. Next time I go visit my parents I'm going to dig this guy up and finally put him together!

I remember getting this guy for Xmas when I was a kid. I was so excited at the time. One of the best presents I ever got. And 25 years or so on and I'm still collecting transformers much to the disgust of my wife.

Great review, obtibotimus. Metroplex was definitely one of my favorite G1 figures. I still have my original with nearly all his parts. I think it's cool how IDW comics is currently using the character as a mythical space-bridge character who we don't fully understand yet.

FYI Metroplex appeared in a few Transformers G1 episodes, "Five Faces of Fear"...one side story of first 5 episodes circled around Blur and Wheelie having to deliver Metroplex's T-cog....another was when Starscream steals one of Metroplex's Eye for Unicron, and another was when Rodimus having to deactivate Metroplex so he would not be affected by the Madness Plague Spores on "The Return of Optimus Prime"...I actually had this figure when it came out in the late 80s as a child....lots of fun...:)

Great review as always Paul. I do not have the encore version, I have a G1 I got from a friend, only thing I am missing are his missiles, but I really need reprolables for him. The Scamper that he came with was in bad shape, but I got a repro version from Ebay. He really is a great figure from the G1 era!

I loved Metroplex when I was a kid. When I found out I had the chance to get the Encore version I jumped on it. I can remember the day I got in the mail, which was last January. I was stoked. And I still love him. I can't wait to get the minibot reissues and the Constructicon gift set to display some cool battle scenes.

Metroplex was one of tohe few bots I had a s a kid. I loved him & am happy to have 2 vintage now. One thing a lot of people don't realize about the figure is that if you pop off the knees & shoulder guns you can fit G1 combiner limbs on him. I like using Arealbots to create a "flight mode"

Congratulations from finaly getting this. It might be just be but that additional robot that is made from guns reminds me about Defender Desdroid from Macross (better known in US as Robotech Macross Saga) or Rifleman BattleMech from Battletech mostly becouse of its cannon arms.

@optibotimus I agree there, but it also is part of his immense play value. That is why I really like Metroplex so much, it is because he is more then a single transformer, he is a full on playset.

actually, scramble took place between g1 season2 and 3 because the japanese didn't get the 1986 till late 87, so they needed to a bridge to connect season 2 to 3.

I had the G1 when I was a kid. I don't see any difference. I don't remember the blue stickers on his waist but it could be because I haven't seen him in so long.

19:18 I usually put the black right shoulder gun on top where his right fist goes, and put the white cannon in the shoulder slot...or the white cannon can fit in the big screw hole in the crotch, or on the side of the helipad. Actually, looking at it, my original G1 toy has 2 screw holes on the crotch piece. Six Guns' non-gun pieces can also fit inside his legs in robot mode.
