That's...actually an awesome triple change! There hasn't been a decent triple changer since Blitzwing and Astrotrain. Very impressed. After watching this I fully intend to pick Sandstorm up. Thank you muchly!

this version of Sandstorm is actually a quad changer, was messing around with mine and if you partially transform him from buggy to robot you can turn him into a Segway. Yes I know its not really part of his transformation but he does still look like a Segway.

Great review. I love this guy. I noticed the same problem with the feet, but it seems (with mine at least) there is a mid-point in between the two notches on his ankle, that makes him stand more securely.

On the VTOL mode your supposed to turn the wheels completely upside down......but....whatever you want

I love this guy. I really believe Springer has been one of Hasbro's best voyager releases in a long time and I can't wait to get my hands on this re-tool. I only hope Hasbro continues to use this concept when they re-use the same molds in the future!!

Such an excellent figure, the retooling is excellent and really adds to the figure and keeps him separate enough from Springer despite being the same common design. It's also great to see not only Springer, but also Sandstorm back as triple changers instead of only two modes.

Picked mine up a couple days ago. Looked over the instructions. On transforming to Dunebuggy mode, I realized that it asked the legs be pegged together and straight, which makes no sense. It is still a great figure.

I actually have the feet in the middle and the heels doesn't wobble anymore and it gives Sandstorm a bit of a smaller feet look than Springer effectively making him look more different.

He is already in stores, but at a slow rate. A few Walmarts, Targets, and Toysrus already have him. If you want him without the wait, I would check bbts, tfsource, or amazon.

There is a way to mount his gun to the nose of the VTOL. The gun uses friction to wedge itself in one very particular configuration. Not easy to get it into place, but it is possible.

I just found him in Walmart and I think he's great. I do like Springer's robot mode better but I think overall Sandstorm is the superior toy. If I could only have one it would be Springer because like you I have loved the character for years. Thanks for the great review.

Wonder if there's going to be a Broadside to complete the Autobot Triple-Changer Team ? If there is it would be a totally different mold unless Hasbro/Takara Tomy somehow manage to retool this one in to Broadside as well.

I wouldn't exactly say that Sandstorm is a retool of Springer. To me, Sandstorm feels like a new mold that shares the same engineering, transformation (with a couple or few differences) and few same pieces as Springer.

In that case i'll tell you (although you already said you don't care). You have to slide the triangular thingy that's in front of the 5mm peg into a groove on te landing gear's articulation point

I managed to get my Sandstorm to stand on his own by turning his legs outwards at the thigh swivels & that makes him a lot sturdier!

I don't know why but their land vehicle modes don't fully work for me, i have both of them but some parts never seem to fully clip in or fit right. On Springer its his arm windows they never seem to properly align with the windows for car mode so it along with the bonnet looks a mess and as for Sandstorm its a simular problem as one of the arm windows don't clip in properly so i don't really use the land vehicle modes especially as those arm panels that cover the wheel's are way to tight to pull out for the other modes.

Unless they put this guy in Seige this guy will be the Sandstorm I want to get even though I still have none of his figures yet even though his is my favorite Autobot triple changer and I will use Seige Springer as my Springer so they will have a lot more differences. I don't really care about the back heavy problem his helicopter mode I think at least is his worst mode I always thought this mold worked better for this guy than Springer.

Rotate the wheels forward so in robot mode you see the wheels it may look unique but it balances better

I really couldn't see this as a Springer remold until you brought up that the parts move to the same places essentially, and honestly, even if he doesn't stand all that well, that's not gonna stop me from getting both Sandstorm and Springer. Blitzwing is... a bit too week as an overall figure for me.

Optibotimus, you don't have to chicken leg sandstorm. Put him in a crouching position. This way, the back weight is over the knees and it makes him look ready to jump into action.

I just bought mine today and I have to say I'm torn between him and Springer as a favorite. I love the Springer figure, in all three modes, but sadly Sandstorm is winning me over simply because everything just seems to fits and tabs together better. I can't explain it, but Sandstorm feels more compact and tight. Still, Springer's bot-mode is better I think. =]

In flying mode Sandstorm looks like the Banshee from StarCraft II ;D It looks better than Springer in his helicopter mode, but Springer is better in car mode. I don't like this giant rear wheels that Sandstorm have. And unfortunately Sandstorm haven't got this beatiful sword (if I made a mistake in this comment, sorry - English isn't my first language, I'm from Poland).
