Alpha Bravo I hope the twelve prime masters would plug into a ring (zodiac) with the matrix of leadership in the center to form a key to omega lock, which would revive Primus to fight Unicron. It would be cool if the key is Rung.

It would have been neat if when you put the Prime masters into the Prime armor, it would activate something. Like in the old G1 days when you plugged the Headmaster into the body, at least the power meter would activate. Seem's like a missed opportunity.

To be fair, having a gear system on each of the prime armor and how each leader comes with a matrix that can utilize the prime masters. It would have went way past budget, and the cost of this line would have skyrocketed.

IIRC Liege Maximo's trickster powers translate to what is essentially having 20 charisma in a situation where most checks are a 10 Dreadwind instills fear in others via harrowing tales, Jazz becomes the ultimate smooth talker, etc.

Great review, i love these figures, such a cool way to reintroduce the Pretenders. I hope Hasbro makes all of them. Only negative of this set, Cloudburst looks a bit bland, he could have used some silver paint on the barrels.

These are pretty cool! I didn't know that they can also hold their barrel/claw attachments as a weapon. I wonder would they do a mini Thunderwing and Bludgeon in the future?

Wouldn't mind seeing Icepick make a comeback either, for that matter, or Bristleback. Lot's of good Pretender Monsters to bring back, so Hasbro/Takara have a lot of options to choose from. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Too bad the pretender shells' arms don't fold up inside their bodies in weapon mode. They look kinda meh just sitting off to the side. But then, I never was much of a fan of targetmaster types.

Waverider should be one of them, as we got Metalhawk, Landmine/Lander, Cloudburst/Phenoix, we just need Waverider/Diver to complete them since we're gettng the three Decepticon Pretenders that showed up in Masterforce. Bugly I suppose would be another one so we can have the Chaos Trinity (Bludgeon, Mindwipe, and him). Beyond them, I don't much care which ones we get since I want Thunderwing to be leader class (they could even replicate his G1 gimmick perfectly if they did), as beyond that all the really 'big name' ones out of the way. I suppose Carnivac might be good, but... not sure how a wolf shell would work in this line up.

they could use some of the pretender classics shells....the starscream one looks awesome and they could do either jazz or bumblebee. i thought carnivac too at some point but his shell is way too organic. sky high has a cool look as well. i'd appreciate them doing three more autobot shells and one more decepticon shell. if the leaks are to be believed, which at this point why wouldn't you, we're slated to get 3 bots and 5 cons. not counting optimus there's 12 primes so an easy 6/6 would be ideal. unfortunately though the deeper you get into the shell ranks the dumber some really look

That decoy armor looks like the Pretender Shell for Metalhawk in the Masterforce anime. "Suit on! Pretender!"

XeviousD the decoy suits and Prime Masters are based on the pretenders. Vector is Metalhawk, Micronus is Cloudburst and Liege Maximo is Skullgrin. Later waves will have Alchemist as Submarauder and Alpha Trion as Landmine.

Hey, I can't blame him too much - if I had that thing I'd be whipping it out all the time too. ~.^ I'm more just pissed at Hasbro for how underhanded and crappy they released that figure. Announcing that it was available immediately on Hasbro.com at a convention and allowing it to sell out completely before anyone else even knew it existed was a kick in the nuts.... I don't know what buffoon at Hasbro thought that was okay, but they should find a new profession.

I wonder why Hasbro didn't just use the standard 1988 line-up of Pretenders. The two waves comprise 12 shells in all, perfect for 12 (non Optimus) Primes. (Yes, I'm not counting the pretender beasts or vehicles from '88.) With the Japan only Metalhawk and rumored Octopunch and Bludgeon coming, I guess anything goes. Maybe we'll get 24 of these Prime Masters in all, and they'll double dip on the Primes themselves, giving them two different pack out options for shells? Would be cool if, for instance, Solus Prime came with an option for both a classically Autobot aligned pretender shell as well as a Decepticon one.

According to the Covenant of Primus, Alpha Trion's the third Prime and Optimus is the thirteenth (but he spent a long time as a normal transformer not realizing who he was because of plot reasons).
